Oil question

I notice when comparing oils that are the same weight, (lets say 20w 50) one is much thicker than the other.

I've heard that once the engine is running at a slow speed and a cool temp the thinner oil is better and once it gets running the thinner oil will thicken up once the engine gets hot?

Is this true, can anyone shed some light on this.

A good example of this thin oil is quaker state which is a very respected oil by a lot of ppl.

Not to be nasty, or anything, BUT - if you got a couple of days with nothing to do - search ENGINES and read till your hearts content about oil
