Anyone know build dates?
My friend bought an F150 built 2/01. Is this an early model or a late model build? He was asked this when ordering some aftermarket items. Are there differences between early and late 2001 model?
Thanks, Les

they may be.
companies usually make small changes throughout the course of a model year and some things may be different. You wouldn't be able to notice it though unless you already knew about it.

Run the VIN thru Ford
Powerstroker - if he goes to Ford w/his VIN they can run a free Oasis report which gives the exact build date for his truck. That's how I know my truck was "born" on 11/18/96! Also, if he bought it used it will list work done on the vehicle too - I found out the guy B4 me must have really done some hard off roading. He bent the right rear axle, had the ENTIRE rear end replaced & 4 tie rods & also had a new radio installed! Makes me wonder if he had something in the cup holder & hit a bump & spilled it down the dash as it said the back of the radio was rusted out!
Anyhow, hope this helps!

Cowlady,
Sorry to hear about your truck, glad it's all fixed. I know about Oasis, but he did buy it new. He was just wondering if it was early or late model. I told him the samething, just take the VIN and build date to the dealer. He did that and they didn't know either
That figures.
Thanks, Les

Huh?
I figured Ford would know - at least they SHOULD!
Well, I have a friend who works in the Parts Dept at a Ford dealer - I can ask him if he can check. Have your friend email me if he wants - it's no trouble at all. My address is Cowlady18@cs.com. I'd be happy to check for him. One other idea - ask a junkyard. Usually they know the vehicles as well as if not better than the manufacturer does!
