Cool 36k

On the way to work today I hit 36000 mi. How long does it take to stop thinking about the lack of warrenty every time you look at the odometer?
Actually I have been very lucky with this truck and have not had it too the dealer for any work in over two years. I took it in yesterday to have the signal mirrors replaced due to the tsb, but I could not find anything else for them to do. Lets hope it continues for many years.

nice truck JA_stang, Are you going to do any mods now that you are out of warrrenty, My 99 is at a few miles over 15,000 with no trubles what so ever, except for power window thing and loose belt. When my moms expy went over 36K kinda strange, but took hardly no time to get over it, (mabee cause I don't drive it all the time)

if your nervous about it, you can always purchase the 100,000 mile warranty. I'm at 43,000 and I've been thinking about it rather seriously, as I recall it was about $1300 but that gets paid for the first time they have to replace a head gasket or an alternator, etc...

I was apprehensive as the '36' approached. Surprisingly, I had a feeling of euphoria when it passed.

I'm now driving an old truck and am officially a grumpy old Ford truck driver.

(43,000 miles)

Once you are out of warranty (past 36,000 miles/3yrs) you can no longer buy the extended Ford warranty, you may be able to buy an aftermarket from Ford, but not the Ford warranty......

Well I put my truck over 36,000 back in August out west in Utah along I-70 and since I was a long way from home I was looking for any sign of trouble after 100 miles or so I just went back to normal trouble free driving it now has 43400 plus miles on it with no problems yet.

Cool

Well after my drive home that night and every little noise seemed to be magnified, we've settled back into our routine. I have been wanting a superchip since I bought the truck, so now it may get one for Christmas (depends on money, just closed on our first house Nov 15th). I would also like exhaust and new wheels, if anyone is making a Christmas list for my truck.

My last F150 lasted me 225,000+ miles. I sold it to my friend and it still runs great for him at about 230,000. I've never had any problems with it, just the normal stuff like brakes, clutch....but absolutely no engine problems. I wouldn't be too worried about the 36K warranty

About as long as it takes for you to get a whole bunch of new mods on your truck, you forget the warranty really quivk, until it tears up and you need it.

Me too...

You hit the nail on the head, I was a bit nervous approaching that mark. Now at 43,000. The rough idle that was previously fixed under warranty is coming back occasionally. That was warrantied for 12,000 but that ended also. I sure hope it doesn't return...
