Bad news from the Doc today
I was diagnosed with something called
essential tremors today. I had been
referred to a neurologist by my
physician after I kept experiencing
shaking of my hands. I just attributed
it to stress from a new job, a new baby,
and a recent move. Guess I was wrong.
As much as I understand, this disease
is not curable, but is controlable with
medication. I'll start the med tomorrow.
If it works, then I guess the diagnosis
is correct. If it doesn't work, then
the shaking could be an indication of
something more seriously wrong with me.
It could possibly be MS. I sure as heck
hope this medicine works. If so, I
would be tied to it for the rest of my
life though. I'll take the inconvenience
of taking a pill every day over MS anytime.
The tremors aren't painful, but crap they
are aggravating. It's a pain in the butt
to even type. I'm sorry for rambling, but
I needed to vent a little. Does anybody
here have any personal experience with
this disease? I'm not even sure it's
classified as a disease. This really
took me by surprise. I'll hit the web
tonight and see if I can find any info.
Thanks again for listening.

Good luck to ya and your family. Everyone's thoughts and prayers are with you my fellow F150online member. I have personally seen you contribute many times on this board. Once again good luck and I hope the med works for you.
Well, don't feel left out. I have the same thing as you, I can remember it through my whole life. I don't take any medicine for it, because it is just part of me now (I shake like a chawaha(sp)). I was told it is hereditary. My newest thing is I came down with IGA Nephritis.
Trapper,
Hope the Med's work. Thanks for Sharing, We'll pray for you.

I hope that the meds work for you and that you will get through it. I dont know if it is similar or not but my aunt's hands shake quite often. It can make it hard for her to write, eat and type. She has lived with it all of her life and it is just how it is, no medication has helped. She hasnt had any ill effects from it. Good luck.
Best wishes to you. I hope everything goes ok and you get through it. I have an anxiety condition, so i know what it's like to not feel in control of something that's happening. Good luck.
IGA Nephritis.
IGA Nephritis. This is a degenerative kidney disease and causes the kidneys to become fiberous over a time and eventuly quit working all together. I know i have this problem and have had it for 5 years and i am doing well. 4ozs. of beef each day is all thats allowed (protein is a no-no). Lots of back pain but hey you gotta play the hand your dealt . Oyea by the way i take fish oil pills (i know) 16 of them each day and have slowed the progression down considerably. (mayo clinic recommended) It works...

Granny's "elixir" was supposed to be a
surefire cure-all. I'd take a hit on one
of those pints if it would help, that's for
sure. Funny thing, these tremors are
actually slowed down in some people if
they drink alcohol. I'll have to try that if
my med doesn't work.
At the very
least, maybe I'll forget about it for a while.
I want to thank everyone for their prayers.
It's nice to know there are so many good
people on this site. God bless you.
ford4fun, I've heard that these tremors are
inherited as well as not inherited. Your
chance does jump up to 50/50 if it's in your
family though. Guess what, I just found out
my late grandfather had them. I guess this
means there is a good chance my daughter
will get them. That sucks. Thanks for being
so open. It's somewhat comforting to hear
from someone who has them. Thanks!
