Just go to the French Quarter and party. You will either have a good time, or get so drunk you won't remember.

My parents used to live close, and once on leave from the military my cousin and I went down to party.

Long story short....... A couple of weeks after getting back to work I got a small package from her. Opened it up a Zippo lighter..cool. Engraved on the front was my name and "Remember Bourbon Street".... on the back " 'Cause I Don't"!

One more I must add. If you have alot of time to spend, take a drive over to the Gulf Shores area. Having traveled from coast to coast, as well as the Keys and Bahama's, I personally believe that these are the most beautiful beaches there are! It is about a 4 hour ride from NO, but well worth it if you have the time!

We enjoyed the "Streetcar named Desire" (St. Charles) - thru the garden district - to the Audabon Park, then the Zoo Tour, then take the boat cruise from the zoo back down to the F.Q.

Not much jazz anymore in the F.Q. - La Maison Bourbon is about it.

I usually make it to New Orleans about twice a year. My favorite places to eat would be Johnnys' PoBoys, Emerils'(take a tie and jacket) Port Orleans on Bourbon St. and definitely the House of Blues. You have to go to the Gospel Brunch, that is if you can wake up that early on Sun. LOL! If you get bored in the French Quarter after a couple of nights, grab a cab and tell them to take you to the Rock N Bowl. I have had more fun in one night at this bowling alley, than most places in the FQ. It's out of the Quarter, but not too far. Make sure it's Zydeco night, and you'll have the time of your life. My fiance works for Phantom of the Opera, and we stayed in the French Market Inn at 501 Decatur St. for FIVE weeks!! You can say I was a little burned out on the FQ after that stint, hehehe. That damn riverboat calliope music kept waking me up at 11:00 every morning. The French Market Inn is a nice place to stay, if you're going to stay in the Quarter. Watch out for the poker machines, you'll go broke, Most of all have fun, and take an industrial size box of Alka Seltzer with you!!,,,,,,98

DEFINATELY do the river cruise, I forget what its called, and DEFINATELY plant yourself on Bourbon St for 3-4 hours on Friday and or Sat night. Here's what to do: get dinner relatively early and go to one of the bars with a deck. Plant yourself on that deck about 7 or 8 and watch as the mayhem ensues below.

It's like Thursday night is an average Friday night anywhere else, Friday night is an outrageous Saturday night anywhere else, and then Saturday night is like nothing you've ever seen before. I was like this from about 10PM - 2AM on Sat night with the things I saw.

Also, once you're done with the people watching............ LUCKY DOG on every corner. SO good.
