First day at daycare......
Well, we had to do it. After some time with just us watching our daughter we realized that she needed more time to interact with children her age. We found a good school and she'll spend a couple days a week there.
There was a lot of crying, kicking and screaming going on when I dropped her off this morning.........
She was just fine though.

Sign,
It will ber good for her really....as far as the crying, kicking and screaming......you two adults should get ahold of yourselves...its not good to let your daughter see you like that..

I have two girls
I remember that morning well. There was much crying, kicking, screaming and a teary eyed face at the window as my wife drove away.
But, at the end of the day she came back and got me.

Our 6-month old has been staying with a
sitter for the last 2 weeks. This lady keeps
4 kids besides our little girl. It was hard to
let her go. I rush there every evening to
pick her up. The best feeling in the world
is walking in that door and seeing her
smiling face. Can't be beat! We have got
her on a waiting list for a church run
daycare facility. It'll be spring before she
can attend though. The expense is awful
though, it runs at least $75 a week where
I live.

My Bride operates a Child Daycare service from our home. She gets upwards of $130 (full-time) per child per week, higher for infants. Some parents pay full time rates for part time service just to maintain the opening. Food and diapers are provided. Childcare openings in this area are rare. She makes damn good money, but deserves it too! I could never do that. I don't like being in the house in the afternoon but will admit it's the parents that I can't tolerate. They don't know when to go home and we don't care about your miserable day (or spouse). Just go home! There, I've vented!

Just for the record; she stopped crying about your leaving long before you did. She also was a perfect angel before you arrived to pick her up too.
Around here, the average is $150 a week! Thats why I no longer work two jobs. The job that I didn't need daycare for is the one I kept.
I now watch a neighbor kid and only charge $50 because his dad is a single parent, and when my daughter was younger, some nice lady did it for me for that amount. It is my way of "giving back"
As far as parents "venting" I now know what I must have sounded like some days. It is natures way of "getting back" LOL
Occasionally I watch a 2 year old, and am reminded why I don't do this more often, while wondering how my own kids made it this far under my care.
After all the times I rescued the rabbit from a juice dribbling, and removed the two year old's curious arms from my fish tank, who knew I would have to watch an 11 year old closely enough to keep him from turning the fish tank into a toxic waste dump?
I spent the last two days making the fish tank habitable again.

Daycare..
The price for daycare is just unbelievable. My fiance has a two year old son, and went from one daycare (Childrens World)that was around $160 a week, and we found a at home daycare that my cousin's daughter goes to, and it is only $95 a week. Not bad, and it is easier on the pocket book as well. Don't know how parents can aford to have 3 or more kids in daycare at a time. Not to mention that he is much happier at the new daycare.
We could always get Raoul to watch the kids though......

Brotherdave,
You name it I make it. We do sub out some of the large electrical work and channel letters/neon. Banners, boats, planes, vans, trucks, banners, sandblasted, etc. Also do all of the graphics work for a local awning company. I'm moving away from the simple vinyl, banners, magnetics, etc. and planning on doing that type of work wholesale only. That way I can work on the "fun" jobs that are more creative.
As for the two year old, she loves the daycare center. Some of you are getting off easy on rates, we pay $78 for two days a week. All of the better run places in this area were close in price. The only whining she did is when we had to leave!
All for the better though. Originally we changed our schedules to not have to leave her with a sitter. Just not enough kids close by for her to interact with and develop her social skills.
She's #1, so if it's good for her it works for me.......

very glad my youngest is now 10 and oldest is 16. they "hang" together during the summer. during school months i generally get home before they do because i go in to work nice and early.
when he went to daycare here it was $4 hr. plus time and a half if it took you longer then 1 hour to get back to pick him up.
fla was even worse at $6 hr.
brotherdave OMG. that's got to hurt big. hope it's something really nice and fast that you get later

wildchild..its like anything else, once you get used to it it is not so bad. seems like alot of kids at the school are an only child, i have 2 and even the owner looks at the checks and says, ouch!
signmaster.. i do signs also, i mostly go after the petrochemical industry. i HATE banners and do them only if we have to. we mostly do engraving and screen printing. Some people out there just give the work away and i refuse to even try compete with them.
until my kids have kids they will have no idea how much they are on my mind.

I do some low cost work for some of the clubs, and a charity or benefit if it's a cause I believe in. Other than that, they pay.
