I got the truck back. They finished it at about 4pm. The problem was a wiring harness had a hole rubbed through the insulation and two wires were arching. I can definitely tell a difference. It doesn't shutter and stall when I put the windows down now.

The seat is fixed, it doesn't knock anymore. I just can't believe the damn thing is fixed.

Cool.. .. I hope you gave kudos to the service guys, intermittent electrical problems are hard to isolate..... My sister has a 95 Bronco that blows the tranny fuse.... used to be when the tank was full and turning a sharp corner, replaced a shorted out fuel guage, but it still blows the fuse when it goes through a car wash.... always something.....

Seacrow: Glad they fixed it, did they fix your blower motor too?

It is amazing how some people will get a string of vehicles like Seacrow has. I've had nothing but great service from my old Ranger, the F150 and the Mustang. None have ever left me stranded or broken down in 12 years of driving. The Ranger almost did with a dead starter but a push start in third fixed that problem. And all of the original Firestones on the Ranger did get flats, go figure.

There seems to be a large variation in the qualiity of Ford's products.

Kind of makes you wonder if Ford sells "seconds" to certain dealers or maybe certain dealers get a discount if they buy only vehicles made on Mondays.

Seacrow, I got my fingers crossed for ya. Hope the truck runs like it's supposed to from now on.

2000 and Dennis. Of the 7 brand new Fords that I or my wife (at the time) have purchased since 1987. ONly two gave us significant trouble. The 98 Explorer and my current F-150. I even had a 92 Ford Tempo that was a good car. In 100,000 miles it only ever needed two rear wheel cylinders. I never even had to do the brakes. I think what has happened is that my extremely good luck with the 87 and 94 Rangers (neither ever gave me a moments trouble) and the Tempo, I have come to expect the same from the newer models. My 99 F-150 only needed a wiper switch recall. It was a great vehicle besides the occasional hiccup by the transmission not knowing what gear it wanted to be in. The 98 Explorer was a huge let down because we liked it so much that we did not want it to be in the shop, we did not want it to have problems. They were never corrected. The problem on my current F-150 was very similar to what we had with the Explorer. I don't really want a Tundra, I just don't want to go through another Explorer episode. I just want my truck fixed and so far, after one day and about 150 miles, it seems to be fixed.

2000, they found some debris around the blower wheel. they did not know if it were my fault or an assembly problem. It doesn't squeal anymore, that's all I care about. All of the problems of my afforementioned list have been fixed. I am happy again.
