Well my rear bumper found a light pole today...

.....and put a sizeable, though not huge dent in the rear bumber, drivers side almost in the middle. Only the bumber has the damage, and what I need to know is will the whole thing need to be replaced or can it be pounded out? To give you an idea it is dented about an inch in, in the fashion of running into the corner of the pole, and the black plastic covering is pushed up slightly in the same spot.

If it does need to be replaced, where do I get a new bumper (ford?) and has anybody ever replaced a bumber before on these models???

I'm not sure if any place would try to fix the dent in the bumper. I would say most would tell you to go buy a new one. Main reason being there is no way they could ever beat it back out and make it look like new. Your chrome would always show some sort of dent or high spot in differerent light reflections. I do know that you can get a new bumper made by FEY from JCwhitney for about $430. They look dead on the stock one.

Before going out and buying a new one you might want to check the junk yards and see if you can find one in good shape and save some money

Check Ebay

I can't recall any OEM Ford bumpers for your truck selling for over $200.00 recently.

I'd try to bang it out first. If you gotta buy a new one, you gotta buy a new one. If your fix up job looks like crap, doesn't matter as you have already resigned yourself to the fact that you gotta buy a new one.

Can't lose situation (even though you do have a dent)

Get a rear replacement bumper from Ranch Hand. They look great & it doesn't matter what you hit w/ them.

Try these too

Try these 2 sites: www.partslocator.com & www.copartsfinder.com. I believe both are junkyards where you can search by area & look for trucks that have undamaged parts. Good luck!
