Smile Any one snowmobile??

I live in Maine and put on 1200 or so miles in an average winter (sleds were always owned by Dad). I am thinking about buying a 1999 MX Z 600 for $3600. I think it will be a great deal! Anyone own, ride, or have knowledge on them? What do ya think? Any major problems with them? I know, I know, there are other "miss lead" riders who ride other brands, but please no trash talk. All of the newer snowmobiles are very nice machines...no matter what you ride, were in it for the thrill of the sport!

Yup I have been riding sleds since the mid 70's. I happen to ride skidoo also and in my opinion you can't go wrong with one. Matter of fact you can't go wrong with any brand today(did I just say that).I have a machz and a mxz800 as for the trails the mxz is the way to go. less weight better on gas.

good luck

Im a Cat man through and through and bleed Cat green. But just about any sled that you buy these days is going to be excellent. All that it boils down to is just what suits your needs, wants, and riding style. I have a buddy who has a 99 MX-Z 600...I rode it and it almost made me go over to the dark side. It has been rock solid for him. Sounds like a good deal to me. Good luck.

Exclamation More than 3 members are sledders!!!

Hey guys, I know that there are more snowmobilers on this web page than myself and two others! Anyways, buying the 99 MX Z tomorrow morning! So, like always when it is this time of year, I am thinking snow. Last year we had 3 storms in October, one dumped +6"! So what do others think about the new ZX platforms? What and where do you all ride?? Think snow!!

Sounds like fun to me!

Sounds like a cool sled...do you do a lot of mountain ridding? Around here the only Mountain climbing I do with sleds is to get to the top to work (on communication sites/towers). If I were to buy a new sled it would be a Skidoo Renegade 800...it supposedly will beat a 2000 T-Cat with Black Magic Motor (220HP) off the line for the distance of two telephone poles!!! I guess this is because it is geared down, after that the T-Cat would be victorious!

i am thinking about getting a sled this year. step brother has been after me for awhile to try it. funny you should mention the mxz. having no experience with sleds mind you, that one is the one that caught my eye, strictly for looks of course but i figured their all pretty close in performance so looks is what counts. although i'm thinking of getting a 440 instead of 600.
please let us know how you like it.
passed up a great deal on a cat this weekend but that's another story all together. can you say brain cramp.

Yup,
any 96 or newer MXZ chassis is good,
but Bombardier didnt get theyre act together until 96.
I wouldnt touch anything before that year with a 10' pole.

I ride Yamaha personally, but wouldnt touch anything before 97
neither. Cat are good and light for the most part, depends
on wich model you go with.
Polaris seem to be quite well nowadays too.

Do a search on "sled" and youll find my previous post and pics.

Yup....been riding more years than I care to mention. Started on a John Deere of all things in 78. Bought a Yamaha after that. The Yam was my first brand new sled. Bought new in 86, I was 20 and thought I was the coolest. Since then I've owned

Polaris

89 Indy Sport
88 Indy 400
95 Indy 500
01 XC 500 SP

Arctic Cat

93 EXT 550
95 ZR580
97 ZR580 EFI
97 ZL440

Yamaha

91 Phazer II
86 Bravo

Sheeeesh I spend more on sleds than trucks 8^)

I live in MI so this is where I ride most of the time. In the past Ive ridden Maine 2 different times, Quebec 2 times, and Ontario a couple times.
I average between 1500 and 2000 miles a year, but have slacked off in the past couple due to 2 children age 4 and 2 weeks. I did get 1100 miles last year though.
Can't wait for the snow to fly.....woooohoooo!!!!

Let it snow!

I can't wait for it to snow...
I ride a 97' AC EXT efi.
Thinking about buying a new sled this winter. Put just over 2000miles on mine last winter. Was out in the garage last night shinning it up for winter. What do you guys use to keep the sleds clean and do you have any tricks to keeping them working good. I use Pledge. The stuff the wife uses on the furniture. Spray it on the cab, windshield and seat. Let it sit for a couple of min. and wipe it off. Repels water and makes those scratches disappear. Hope to see some of you on the trails this winter. I'll be the one with the F-150 and snowmobile trailer in tow. hehe. Happy sledding!

Smile Thanks sled headS!!

Just bought the 99 MX Z 600 this morning. Boy, looks so sweet in the back of the black F150 w/ ORP, I think I'll take a picture. Now I really want snow...bad. Already planned a 1600 mile ride from Central Maine into Quebec back into Northern Maine and back home. Should be fun!!

Question Have you seen the...

conversion kits for ATVs? I can't remember the
name of the company, but they sell snowmobile
kits that are retro-fitted for ATVs. I saw a banshee
fitted with one, it really hauled A$$! I seem to
remember that they were rather expensive though.
Just a thought!
