Buying advice Raptor Vs Shelby
Buying advice Raptor Vs Shelby
Hey, I’m new here and not sure where to post this so I am starting here. I currently on my second Raptor both 2nd gen. I am considering getting rid of it and buying a gen 1 Raptor or a Shelby F-150. There are many Raptors in my area and 1 Shelby F-150. They all have between 80-100k miles. I definitely want a v8.
I intend to keep this truck a long time maybe forever. I don’t do much off roading and no towing. It will be my daily driver. My questions are would you go with the 5.0 Shelby with the supercharger or the 6.2 Raptor? If I keep this as my forever truck what one has better reliability and if I have to rebuild someday what can I expect to spend on rebuilding the motor? How many miles can I reasonably expect to get out of each platform? And should I be afraid of the high mileages for these trucks? I do plan on getting a per purchase inspection before purchasing.
I would like to hear what you all think? And if not these two model what would you suggest? Also unfortunately, I’m in (Northern Bay Area) California where everything is more expensive. Thanks for any advice.

If it performs to your expectations, go with the 6.2 Raptor. Single overhead cam, 2 valves per cylinder, will run fine on 87 octane fuel (only loses 10 hp from 91/93). Proven reliable engine, should last almost forever. The 5.0 has dual overhead cams, 4 valves per cylinder, requires premium fuel, and will cost a lot more to rebuild. Because of the forced induction, I don't think the engine will last as long. The 6.2 is a lot more suitable for a daily driver in my opinion. 6 speed transmission is more reliable than the 10 speed.
