Corona Virus mess

Chatted with a bud that provides services to the Walmart shops, the auto shop side of Walmart. He said there has been a run on tires, motor oils, oil filters most anything maintenance related. Next time you're in a Walmart, might check out the shelves in the auto dept. This could be a local thing or it could be all over.

In other Texas news, the mayor of San Antonio sued and lost his case to have the Feds dump corona virus folks some where else. The people that have come down with it, the Feds just load them up and dump them off at the Local Methodist Hospital. That hospital is not set up for containing any highly viral strains. Jeez, they have common air conditioning thru out the entire structure. But regardless, our dimwits are sending another 100 to Lackland AFB with 20 known folks that tested positive for it. I wonder how long it will take before they release them into the city like they did last week where one lady who tested positive took a 4 hour tour of Northstar Mall. That's the biggest in the area.

I know that the mayor lost his case to force the CDC to keep that patient that later went out to the mall. That was the middle or last week. And BTW the CDC later, after she returned from the mall, tested her again and are now saying that she was positive for the virus!

But I've also heard that he now, as mayor, has declared San Antonio off limits to anyone from Lackland AFB in an effort to keep any more possibly infected people from Lackland out of San Antonio. I don't know if he can enforce that or if a court will try to stop him.

The CDC at lackland released another 160 people from Lackland last week. They played that up in the news. I wonder if any of them are going to later show up as positive?

The CDC also tried to dump a bunch of infected fold in Aniston, Alabama and in Costa Mesa, California. The Congressional representatives from alabama fought back and that was supposed to have been stopped. City officials from Costa Mesa filled a Federal Lawsuit and the CDC backed down. In both cases the CDC was going to move infected people into NON-hospitals and into what basicly was standard apartments with no medical facilities and no isolated rooms. I wonder where the CDC has moved to people that we aren't aware of?

Why do I keep getting the feeling that the CDC wants people to get infected??? It seem slike the CDC is treating many of these large outbreaks (like the Grand Princess) as a Petri dish so that they can have their own personal science project!

My youngest is a dept head for a States teaching hospital system. She rides herd over 7 hospitals. They just issued a memo to all employees. There will be no travel by employees or the employee must go thru 14 days quarantine. There will be no visitors to the patients that are in the hospitals. Family members might be allowed if the patient is dying and at doctors approval. There was more to the txt but that was the meat of it. Sounds like this could be close to being bad and soon.

Those kind of quarantines are going to take a LOT of badly needed staff away from the hospitals. But IMO EVERY business out there needs to quarantine anyone that has been traveling outside of the US or that has been in any of the heavily infected areas of the US.

The governor of NY has just called out the National Guard to forcibly quarantine New Rochelle. That's the home of the lawyer that wouldn't self quarantine and left (after they knew that he was infected) and went to a conference in Vermont. Several people in his immediate family are also now infected and I expect they are the ones that gave to so many others in the neighborhood.

I just read somewhere in one of the news articles that the US is now starting to tell older people (over 60?) to prepare for a long stay inside and not to see people or travel anywhere.

I just looked and there are now officially just under 120,000 cases. It was under 100,000 literally 2 days ago. This is picking up FAST!

I'm afraid that this person is exactly right, in fact, I think will likely be even worse than her prediction. https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1...459003909.html The events in New Rochelle https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-51826317 And for anyone that isn't already paying attention, watch this for a couple of days https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

I'm certainly not worried about it. I had a cold similar a few weeks ago, and I swear it was the corona virus. Had the exact same symptoms and everything. Put me out for a week, and the hardest part was the breathing and rogue fevers/chills. My chest hurt mostly from the coughing, and it felt like my lungs were congested (like walking pneumonia). It was like no mucus would come up, and just stay buried in my lungs.

I knew it wasn't the flu, because I had that a month prior (tested).

It cleared up on it's own. But during it's course, it was like a roller coaster. Never experienced anything like it in my life.

Today there were lots of closure and shutdowns nationally. It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few days/weeks

Got another text from my youngest. Their hospital system has now shut down all emergency services. Unless the persons life is in danger, they will not allow admittance to the hospital. She and her husband were coming to stay a week since I haven't seen her in 3 years now. That trip is now toast as she would have to go into quarantine for 14 days before she could go back to work. Yeah, not everybody is going to die form this stuff. I'm not sure there isn't something else behind all of this. But I'm not a doctor. I do know that if you have any near needs for anything computer related or electronic related, you better get to buying it. The wife buys all of the I.T. stuff for the 5th largest school district in Texas and they are not sure they will have everything necessary for the September deployments of new schools. They also gave all of the school techs new laptops so they can tele-comute. Far too much of the computer parts and TVs, phones, etc are made in China. Seems like a lot of effort and not be important. Crazy times!

Well, you know that it's now serious. They just closed Disney World! Both in Paris and in Orlando. The one in Japan was closed weeks ago and the one in California closed a few days ago. They closed just about everything in Florida today, all of the tourist traps, the universities, all of the public libraries. The airlines and cruise ships were already deserted for the most part, It's going to be QUIET around here.

When I posted last night there were just under 120,000 cases. Now it's almost 135,000. Quite an increase for about 22 hours.

Since the tests are not that available, the real number is probably much higher. Hope it peaks soon and we can get back to normal with minimal deaths.

FWIW, they just postponed Fiesta so if you know anybody that has reservations, they need to change them. Fiesta is proposed to be scheduled November 5 thru 15. And as you might know it had to happen, San Antonio has just confirmed its first Corona Virus case not directly associated with the Gov't bringing it here.....yeah, right. Last week the corona virus was not air borne, this week it is. Makes ya wonder how clueless are the folks involved with our "safety". On the good side, if you like NASCAR, they will be running Homestead and Atlanta with zero spectators. You can be bored at home watching NASCAR screw up racing.

That's better than watching reruns of I Love Lucy on cable television.... Well maybe.

Seems the France family couldn't miss a dollar so they just cancelled the races. Off again, on again, stay tuned as it's like Texas weather, just give it a few minutes. Didn't particularly care to watch the Joey Logano show anyway.

The news broadcast around has suddenly gotten much shorter. Their are no campaign rallies to talk about, no high school shootings to report and no sports activities! Half way through the show the news casters were standing around like "what do we talk about next?"

I couldn't believe how empty the highways were heading home this evening. Might have to go for a nice drive tomorrow

I noticed that too, even here in Cleveland where we don't have as much traffic it seemed like a week end on the drive home from work yesterday and typically Friday is the busiest day for rush hour traffic around here.
