Anyone Live In Florida?
I live in the Tampa Bay area.
All I have to say is, I wait all year for days like today.
The high at noon was 72 degrees.
It could stay like this year round for all I care.

Up here in the Great North....Namely the Twin Cities in Minnesota, it was 76 degrees yesterday, clear and sunny
. Today it is suppose to be a high of 80, sunny. But the bad news is...by the end of the week, they are saying highs in the upper 40's, and they are saying a rain and snow mix for Friday in the northern part of the state.

Mom and Dad have their snowbird vacation home in Port Charlotte. I must say when I was there last December, it was as cold as Canada.
Other than that, I love the gulf coast area (Tampa through to Fort Myers).
Can't wait to go down again!!!

Yep, it was cold as all get out last year. And windy! I was pissed! I don't mind cold but I can't stand wind. Wind can destroy a nice motorcycle ride.
I am in Sarasota/Bradenton. It was perfect here today. 76 and no wind.
J-150, Pt. Charlotte is a great place to have a snowbird home, that's about all that exists there. I used to work in North Port (hellhole, with a police force big enough for a town six times it's size) quite a bit and went to the Steak-N-Shake in Pt. Charlotte for lunch.
Hey Dennis, still pissed that Dubya won huh? Well, just be glad Al Gore is inhaling Twinkies at the speed of light and not in the hot seat. He would crap in his pants right now. At least I don't have to hear him say "INN MIIIIIIIIIIII PALLLAAAAN....." anymore.
I just read that Clinton got disbarred.....he deserved it!
lariat4wd, warm up that middle finger, the snowbirds will be back on the roads again soon. That's the only thing that sucks about the weather. There are thousands of Q-Tips up north now glued to The Weather Channel waiting to descend upon us and make our lives pure hell for 6 months.
I remember X-mas of 1986 or 1987 it was 85 degrees, X-mas eve 1989 it snowed for about an hour here.

It got down in the 50's last night in Orlando!! I lived in Michigan when I was a kid so I love the cool weather.

I was born and raised in Sanford, Fl. an remember some mornings you get up. Cold as ever. Then the next day, I'd have a crab running across the steps.LOL Now that was 30 years ago. Still funny though.
Five years and I will. My little girl will be 18 and I'm going with or without my Bride (19 yrs next Tuesday). I guess I will have to let her buy me a new ride first though! Heat does'nt bother me, it's the freakin' winters that I detest!

Seacrow... Nope. Just stating a fact about the election. Seems like parts of Florida just can't get with the program as far as elections go. Hope they finally get rid of the antiquated voting systems before the next election! It's hard to believe that there were places in this country that used a voting system that had such a high percentage of error already built into it.
In a way, I'm glad such a controversy happened. Maybe all states will start to use more accurate voting systems in the future. At a minimum, they should be using an optical scanner system. Hope those counties in Florida will allow senior citizens to void as many ballots as it takes for them to be confident that they voted correctly. I was distressed to hear that there was a limit on getting a new ballot in Florida. In my state, they want everybody to be sure they voted correctly. Scanners at the polling places will reject ballots where people made mistakes, such as voting for more than the maximum number of candidates in a particular race. If it takes a voter 10 tries to get it right, it takes them 10 tries and before I get slammed that the voter is too stupid to vote, let me remind you that there are other reasons why people have problems. A lot of the problems came about because people have physical problems that makes it difficult for them to puch a hole or blacken a bubble or hit the right key or they have vision problems.
Anyway, I sure hope people will push for more accurate voting systems for their next elections. Why settle for an inaccurate voting system in this day and age?

Dennis, I voted on the optical scanner ballots. As we left we fed our ballots directly in to a machine. What started this fiasco is when the state was called with many counties having a hour left to vote. Much of the panhandle is in the central time zone. NOt all counties have antiquated equipment. Florida got beat up pretty bad over this. IN the end it was Gore supporters trying to take advantage of the situation in a handfull of counties. I am sure there are other states with antiquated equipment. Most counties in Fl. have modern equipment.
Back to the weather, it will be hot here again by the end of the week. 86 degrees.

I was born and raised in Miami, Florida many yrs. ago. We left the state in 1972 after going through the 2nd riot. I drove a 1965 Corvair(John Fitch Special Edition-4 carbs, Konis, headers, etc.) convertible all through the city each wk. day(I was a repairman for IBM) and saw one-too-many cement blocks tossed onto a car's top and then the car was set on fire.
I surely miss Florida--- no income tax, cheap car tags(in Ga., they charge ad-valorem tax on your car--our tags were $2-300 ea. this yr.), the warm weather, fishin', etc.
Oh, Dennis. I see you're critical of Florida? Funny, you don't list your location---hmmmmmmmmm.

Lariat, I couldn't agree more. The weather this week has been wonderful. I went fishing today, was a bit chilly first thing this morning, but warmed up to be a great day.
BTW, I'm in Largo too.
