Replace cable. Or use a true compression ring fitting. (See my Coyote build thread)


The problem with the clamp style, they dont get tight enough. And they dont seal off the copper and can encourage corrosion as a result

Newer Ford products use this style battery cable end. And should be readily available at your local Ford dealership

I’ve been trying to find a NOS factory cable assembly - the negatives are easy to find on eBay but the positive ones seem to be rare - it makes me wonder if that is a common part to go bad on these cars? I’ll keep looking.....

Why not use the Standard replacement?

Most of the factory positive cables of that era are built into the engine harnesses

Since the car is such a low-mileage and original example (8100 actual miles and the only modification is a CAI and a Mach 1 chin spoiler) I’d like to try to minimize the use any aftermarket parts or products if I can. I have to believe an OEM part is out there - just need to dig around and find it!
