The end of the Camaro??

I've *heard* that they will be bringing back the 5.0 in a SOHC version for the GT and a DOHC for the Cobra. Technology is great, but there just isn't a substitute for pure cubic inches. I believe the 4.6 is a 281 c.i. motor, while the 5.0 is a 302 (know that number by heart
). Those extra 21 cubic inches can translate into as much as 40-50 extra horsepower if the technology goes into it. IMHO, seeing as how the 5.0 was one of the strongest and longest lasting engines ever produced, it's a wonder why they ever retired it.
I've also *heard* another story that they will bring back the 351 for the Cobra. That would be a true Camaro-slayer.
Plus, the interior would be nicer

I agree about bringing back a 351 variant. A DOHC 5.8 with at least 350 hp would be great.
over in blueovalnews.com theresd an article about the terminator cobra that is supposed to come out in a year or two. it has a SOHC 4.6 (instead of the DOHC), but it comes supercharged from the factory. puts out somewhere around 350 or so hp. i heard about this in mustangworld and the corral also.
I haven't liked Chevys' and Pontiacs' styling for quite some time now. I'm thinking mainly of the muscle car area. The last design I liked was the previous, (82 to 93?) body style. Flame me if you want but the Firebird has turned out to look ridiculous in the last few years(ten holes in the front of a T/A???) Performance may be king, but style is the name of the game(IMO)
I didn't like the current Mustang at first, but it grew on me and now I love it. You never know what's next, though. By the time you get a look at a new car design, it's too late, your stuck with it
Lets all cross our fingers at what the next Stang will look like. New Mach 1? Bring it on

It's to bad they are being discontinued, the Mustang may need the competition to keep it sharp.
My 1st car was a 1967 Firebird. It was a 326 with 3 on-the-tree. I miss that car, but I probably won’t miss any others.

logical,
As weird as that was, it sure did. The car came without any options, except the 326 engine. I put a set of Sanderson headers on it and then couldn't shift into 3rd gear. The linkage was hitting one of the header tubes.
So, I put a muncie 4-speed in with a Hurst Competition-Plus shifter. Life was much better then.
