Land Rover Defender

I love my SuperCrew and always will, but my wife needs an SUV. I think the Land Rover Defender is about the coolest SUV on the market. Questions (and keep in mind, Ford owns Land Rover): Is Ford ever going to make a bad___ removeable-top SUV like the Defender? Also, I went to Land Rover's web site, and they don't seem to be offering the Defender for sale in America, does anyone know why?

last yr the defender90 was imported was 97 i believe (d110 stopped being imported yrs before that). something about no airbags as required by nhtsa. go figure, the d90 was built to withstand a charging rhino, but still, no airbags.

if you got the $$$, consider having the d90 imported from overseas.

I will agree with you...The Defender is a sweet truck. I had a friend who had one 2 years ago. He put a 4" 'Jeep Eater' suspension lift and some BFG Mud Terrains. It was one of the coolest trucks I have seen, and one of the most unstoppable too. It is one of those, maybe one day ill get one. But, be 19 and in school, money has a lot to do with it. I know you can get them used, but they are still pretty hard to come by. If you get one, post the pics. MEEK

Hughie,

I know, I know. FordFaithful. But damn, I want a cool SUV for my wife, and Ford doesn't make one. Ford owns Land Rover though, so doesn't that count as a Ford purchase?

Wasn't questioning your brand loyalty......I don't know much about American build quality/reputation........I do know that the UK industry thinks that we like to spend our week-ends fixing cars!
