Gas

Due to Harvey and the refineries in the US are basically now flooded, there is no gas coming out them. Gas shortages are happening now all across Texas and it's going to spread fast. Fill everything you have up, gas or diesel. Gas lines here are over a mile long. LOTS of stations here around the San Antonio area have no gas to sell.

The shortage will be very temporary, less than one week.

People rushing out and filling everything is causing a burden on the already crippled system. We have 230 million barrels of gasoline in reserve as well as 80% of the nation's production still online.

The biggest impact is the pipelines running North out of Houston are INOP currently, so everything will have to be trucked in for now

I doubt there will be any shortages here, our gas comes out of the refineries in Coffeyville KS, but the price has gone up 25 cents this week.

The effected refineries makes up about 1/3 of the nations production. Having reserves buys you nothing if you don't have the pipeline to deliver it. The pipeline that supplies the southeast USA is down and will be down probably to 2018. There are other various pipelines down as well and will have to be serviced before they can pump anything thru them. That's going to take more than a week. But I would agree it will be reasonably short term- 3-4 weeks providing no more storms in the effected area.

Yeah -- I was up in Dallas today and decided to blow back to Houston when I was finished with my inspections since I didn't want to get stuck halfway between Dallas and Houston on Friday with no gas! Filled at the Shell in Fairfield and he said they were almost out -- filled again at a little out-of-the-way Chevron about 20 miles from home, so I should be ok for at least a few days. Lots of stations were completely out on the way back -- HURRICANES SUCK.....!!!!!

San Angelo went stupid today over this! Rumor started on a FB sell group and then got shared then the local news stations picked up on it and everyone ran out to get gas. Some people waited for more than a hour and half to fillup. As of 830 there is 2 stations that has fuel and its only supreme.

As far as here goes, the people is what has caused the stations to run dry, not the hurricane. I just passed by our only truck stop here and everything is out including diesel, there is about 40 18wheelers which is only suppose to hold 10 all jammed into the parking lot cause they cant get fuel now.

Little video from a drone from earlier, it was about 10x worse than it shows cause cars were line up about a 1/4 mile in all directions https://youtu.be/RM8MOQp1smM

Up here in the Cleveland area we get ours from the pipeline that comes from Chicago, but the prices have still shot up. Before Harvey we were at 2.09, then on the day harvey hit it went up 10 cents. Two days later it went up another 20 cents, and today it went up another 20 cents. We are now at 2.59 a gallon for 87 octane.

Gas has gone from $2.19 to $2.59 in the Raleigh, NC area since the hurricane and continues to increase. I haven't heard of anyone running out, though.
