While I was installing my headers, I found the vin stamp on the engine. It's located on the drivers side rear right above the pan rail on a machined pad. It has the last 8 characters from the vin stamped into it. Good info to know if your looking at a used S-550 and want to know if it still has the original engine, or if you need to prove originality before a sale or auction.

It's probably a good bet that the trucks have it in the same spot.

Today I took the Mustang in to Big 3 Racing to have it dyno tuned and to get rid of the P 0420 code from the header install. Since I had a Ford racing power pack and tune installed on my car they had to use HP tuners to copy and modify the ford racing tune. SCT does not have the capability to access the ford racing tunes, only the stock ones.

Anyway, the good stuff, with just a CAI, 87mm TB, long tube headers and an x-pipe/resonator delete and ford racing sport mufflers and running 93 octane Sunoco it put down 425.8 hp and 380.4 tq at the wheels on a mustang chassis dyno in 93 degree weather with about 70-75% humidity. That equates to 501 crank hp! Not bad for just simple bolt-ons.

 

the new cars just keep making more and more power.
the biggest issue with the mustangs is putting the power to the road.


i am amazed that my tuned and cai 3.5 ecoboost makes 402hp and 432 ft torque.

 

Looks great!! And yes, more and more power from these things but I'm wondering the direction Ford will start to go with their recent statements that they want to focus more on hybrids etc.
