Wtf.....???
Those old Chevy six engines were reliable but would be pumping oil bad by 60k miles. Chevy finally redesigned them in 63 and they would last afterwards. I started driving in 60 with the family 55 Chevrolet 4 door six so I know of what I speak.
I paid for a ring job at 60k miles. But, it had a large ridge in the cylinders and should have been rebored. The old time mechanics only knew putting rings in every so often. It didn't burn oil for 3k miles and then burned a qt every 200 miles just like before. Of course my heavy foot contributed.

My '05 grille looks demure by todays standards, Tundra, GM, Ford.
You need a six pack of chrome polish for a Saturday wash.
The bugs out there don't stand a damn chance nowadays!
remove the bed cover, running boards and fender covers, install a raised white letter tire...boom, nice truck.
in the 80s you would see white wall tires like this a lot. the blue dots are still popular with the tri-five guys.
I am guessing this was done by about a 70 to 80 year old guys , in the 50's these are all the parts that made for a "custom" ride. Spot lights, whoever thought that looked good?

This truck makes me think of the '50's era vehicles that are completely ruined with those godawful Continental kits.....
Based on the number of LED bars I see on trucks today, a lot of people. This is just the period correct version for that truck.
true that.
the guy that had my lightning before me had drilled holes and put stob lights in the factory headlights and rear lights. about $1000 latter for factory replacements to undo a stupid thing. lucky for me that is the only mod he did.

I don't buy modded vehicles like that any more since in my experience, the owners put all of their time and money into the mods instead of maintenance and upkeep of the vehicle and they're also the kind of owners that abuse the hell out of their vehicle.
I may be (somewhat) older than you, but the word "geezer" has yet to be used in describing my automotive tastes. That think is simply hideous!
