Thanks I have a friend coming over tonight he has a scanner no a code reader. I'll show him all your suggestions. I'll keep everyone informed.

 

OK it fixed at least it has been for a few days so my fingers crossed. We hooked up scope to see if we could find the problem. We looked at past codes and the code for cylinder #7. We just said he'll with it and went old school. We took out all the plugs again and I purchased autolite plugs at $20 each and then we put dielectric grease on both cop connections. And it's running great. Still wanting to know what was wrong looked at plugs under magnifying glass and found a crack in the plug in the #1 cylinder. But remember we never had a code for #1 so who knows. Thank you to everyone for their time and help.

Good job in fixing it but I wouldn't run Autolite plugs in a lawn mower I was giving away. If it starts acting up again I'd go with a different brand of plug.

 

Actually Autolites work fairly well in the 5.4 3 valve. I won't touch them in a 2 valve though. You cannot go wrong with a Motorcraft plug in any Ford engine.
