He may but I can't see Trump wanting him for VP. IMO there are much better choices out there. I personally don't like Christie but it wouldn't surprise me if Trump picks him as VP. Personally, I like Dr Ben Carson or better, Alan West as VP pick and as minorities they would bring in a lot of liberals and Black votes. We'll be stuck with Kasich alright, he'll keep his Governorship and when that runs out he will likely wrangle a seat in Congress and ride out his remaining years there as an old ALMOST winner, and general gadfly, the same as Ted Kennedy did.

OTOH, I think Cruz is TOAST politically. He pissed off a LOT of powerful people, even BEFORE his presidential run and I think he's going to run into a lot of brick walls trying to get anything done in Congress from here on out and I expect that the people of Texas will eventually wake up to that fact and will vote him out of office sooner or later. Are there any Texans here that want to chime in about how Texans are currently feeling about him?

I would like to see Cruz on the Supreme Court. His knowledge of the Constitution is stellar and he is young enough that he would be able to serve for a long time. He is the perfect replacement for Scallia.

Bill O'Reilly thinks Trump's best choice for VP would be Gov. Martinez from NM, a Hispanic female.

He also thinks Christie would be a good Attorney General, Carson the Secretary of Health and Human Services, and Giulani at Homeland Security.

Trouble with Martinez is that nobody knows her. I think he needs someone on the ticket who is known to the masses. I agree with the other choices. But they say that the VP selection means very little in getting votes.

Nikki didn't support Trump but that may not mean anything. I think he should select someone who would be ready to step into the Presidency. Maybe Nikki would be? I've heard the name Condoleezza Rice mentioned. Might work if she would be interested. She's supposed to be an expert on Russia and Congress would work with her I think. I doubt that Kasich would take it if offered. Rubio might since he doesn't have a job soon.

And I think Cruz would be a good choice for the Supreme Court. I think he would go strictly by the Constitution in his decisions unlike most of those bozos on the court now.

Texan here! Cruz is not well thought of here. He talks out of both sides of his mouth. Typical politician, tells you what you want to hear. He would not make a good VP but I think a Supreme Court seat would fit him quite nice.

For a good VP, Trump is going to have to have someone from either the west or from the south to carry those areas. A team of just yankees is not going to set well with the southern folks at all. You need a Bible Belt VP to complete the team. I don't see Rubio is that person. One name I have heard here is from the south and might be better than I really expect, Willie Robertson. It would be an interesting team.

Cruz did beat Trump by a large margin in Texas so somebody there must like him. Trump said he wanted someone who could work with Congress to get legislation passed and that rules out Cruz. Everybody in Congress hates Ted Cruz.

I think Trump needs someone who might help bring over some democrats and independents. Kasich has the resume but he appears to totally against Trump.

I saw an interview that Trump had with Bret Baier this evening and he was asked about Nikki Haley. Trump said she wasn't on the list for consideration for VP. Lots of politicians picked the wrong horse!

Texan by way of Minnesota here -- not a huge fan of Cruz because I think all he is really concerned about is implementing a rigid social agenda. Personally, I could care less who sleeps with who -- I'm more concerned about getting the fiscal house of this country in order!

Here in Texas, the political pendulum has swung so far to the Right that the Republican Party has essentially been overtaken by people more concerned about implementing an extreme social agenda than doing the work of the citizens. For example, I would love to see an increase in the gas tax with the money raised ear-marked for giving Texas world-class roadways. Instead, just about every new road we get becomes a toll road because the Republican's can disingenuously pass that off as a "user fee" rather than a "tax increase".....

Don't get me wrong -- I personally BENEFIT from toll roads! I can easily afford to pay the tolls and other people's unwillingness to "pay-to-play" keeps the roadways less congested for guys like me. However, I am also smart enough to understand that paying the toll is nothing more than a tax -- I just wish the Republican's would be honest about what the tolls really are -- TAXES.......!!!!!

I hate toll roads. i agree that the state gas tax should be increased to pay for the roads instead. With the toll idea, you have to create another bureaucracy to collect and manage the tolls, build the toll booths, etc. Gas tax would be cheaper.

I don't know anything about Martinez but I would say that all of the others would be good choices, although I THINK Christie is anti-gun so I would worry about his using the AG office to push that agenda. I didn't catch the name but I've also heard talk of selecting Oklahoma's female Gov as VP. I would LOVE to see Giulani at Homeland Security! He's a real no nonsense guy and I think he'd be VERY effective there.

PS I think Carson would also be an excellent choice for head of the State Department since he's very diplomatic and seems to get along with everyone. I think he would work WELL with other countries and their leaders.

I agree with you about the toll roads. But also you left out how much traffic DISRUPTION toll booths cause. I used to spend more time in line at the toll booths than I did actually driving on the local toll road! I know from the ones around here that they spend about 90% of what they take in just in collecting to tolls. The result is that only about 10% of the tolls actually go to pay for the road so it's a very inefficient system. OTOH it does allow the GOV to tax you TWICE for the same thing, once at the pump and again on the road, so I can see whey GOVs love them! The only place that I've ever seen that took out the toll roads was Jacksonville Fla, it used to take well over an hour to get through there due to the massive traffic delays caused by the toll booths, They finally took all of the tolls off of the road through town and now it only takes about 20 to 25 minutes to get through Jacksonville.

News this morning is talking about Trump selecting a Democrat as VP. Wouldn't that be a hoot!

Don't have toll booths in Texas, on most of them, you pay in advance and get a sticker pass. When you use up the prepayment, you had more. If you venture on without a pass the send you a bill that includes a fine. It's a ridiculous hassle for a traveler that has no idea what to expect and is surprised by a toll road. There are some places you can't go without getting on a toll road. That should not happen in my opinion.

Much as I'm a believer in states' rights, I think the federal government should require all electronic toll roads to be compatible with a single transponder system. I have an I-pass from Illinois, it works on the EZ-pass system in the northeast and the IN and OH toll roads, but nowhere else in the country.
