Angry Jennings & Rather....patriots ?? or traitors

I know most of you are off line now, but I work nights. I was at the doctor's this AM looking at the ultra sound of our soon to be born baby girl when all hell broke loose. We caught bits and pieces on ABC radio on the way home and then flipped through ABC, CBS, CNN, BBC, etc. Aside from being stunned and saddened, I was dumbfounded and enraged after listening to Jennings deride the President for not coming on the air immediately to address the people. He smirked when saying it. I thought he was going to chuckle when he disclosed that the President had landed at a base near Shreveport instead of coming back to Washington. Rather's comments were similar in nature. WHAT is with these jerks ? The biggest tragedy on American soil in 60 years takes place and these idiots don't miss a chance to deride the President for following constitutional and military protocol ? I almost puked. After 8 years of cheerleading our former President and his soft handling of terrorists, these 2 jerks don't miss a chance to second guess the current President. Politics aside, this was MOST UNPROFESSIONAL. I feel like the rest of you, let's deal with the situation NOW, with extreme prejudice. If the country needs me, I'm registered, I'm a little old, but not that old, and I'm willing. Our country and my family is worth it. As for the 2 morons on national TV who are supposed to be reporting the facts, they owe all of us an apology. I plan on writing several papers and the networks themselves as soon as it can get through. Dave

Well, the President himself went on the air from Shreveport, so I don't believe you can blame the news stations for reporting where he was since it wasn't a secret anyway.

Isn't Peter Jennings a Canadian?

I agree, I've hated both jennings and rather since I've known I was a republican.

You got that right. Dan Rather is a flaming Liberal socialist no doubt. My mother called the local CBS affiliate here and complained because he had some smart-a@@ remark about Bush not landing in the middle of this mess in DC. Even he should understand the Secret Service makes these decsions. Now that's fair and balanced reporting, yeah right.

I believe if Bush wanted to go directly to D.C., he would have. The simple truth is, the President only has to say what he wants to do and the Secret Service will do their best to protect him. Time and time again, Presidents have done what they wanted against the wishes of the Secret Service. When asked about it in the past, the Secret Service said the President has the last word and all they can do is protect him as much as they can.

When WWII started, FDR knew the country was looking at him to show strength. He refused to have the White House camouflaged. He refused to have the White House windows blacked out at night. In Britain, during the German blitz, the now Queen Elizabeth stayed in London.

Draw your own conclusions.

The Queen of England was in a bunker under London. lol. As for Bush, he unlike clinton, listens to the SS and heeds their advice. It was not safe for him to head back to DC until all flights were accounted for.

Draw your own conclusions.

Sure he could have done that, but maybe he is smart enough to heed the advice of those whose job it is to protect him. Until things had been accounted for, it was better that he was on the move for a little bit. Everyone knew he would speak last night. Leave it at that.

Obviously, this was not the time for either Jennings or Rather to be making comments like that. I have lost nearly all of my respect for bozos like these two. I am tired of having to interpret all the news I am fed. Most people aren't smart enough to stop and think about the news they are being fed. They just believe everything they hear and move on. Open a critical eye and you might just be amazed at some of the crap you find.

God Bless America!

I just emailed everyone I could find e-mail addresses for regarding Rather and Jennings and even Brokaw and their offesnive, obviously uncaring news stories. While I'm sure the emails will be promptly thrown in the trash, at least its complainign to someone

Angry Not surprised...

I always like it when news anchors and reporters who are supposed to report the news in a neutral and unbiased manner do the polar opposite... When covering a catastrophe like this political commentary is completely out of place and unnecessary.

I work in the media, yet have little respect for most news anchors and reporters... Most of them are only out to advance their career first and then report the news... Personally, I have never liked either of the aforementioned bozos...

I expected the president would not comprimise his own saftey and our security by showing up in person for interviews. What would a personal message do for the nation when it wasn't clear whether or not the 'attack' was over?
Like the event wasn't spectacular enough, the news people always have to make more of something. No wonder the general public gets numb to this type of thing. I belive this is catastophic enough to only report the facts (as they are released) without sensationalising.

Quite frankly you don't know that all DC flights are accounted for. Think about it. To accomplish this task, there had to have been over a dozen 'targeted' flights to ensure the couple of 'successes'.
The planes were only reported missing when they crashed. We are still under a flight lockdown so it is possible there are a few more out there.
You can bet when they start up again, they will track every flight, looking for ones not on a specified flight path.

So were most of the other Londoners who couldn't leave the city. She could have but didn't.

So, the bottom line is Bush feared for his safety.

So because she stayed, she's a genius, right.

Let's see. I keep seeing story after story about the White House being a target etc... The only thing Dennis can obsess about is "bush feared for his safety". Nice.

On the other hand, not having a president wouldn't do much for the countries good at a time like this, wouldn't you say Dennis? It makes much more sense to make sure things are under control first.

Give it a rest.

Peace all.

Actually Dennis, Bush is the smarter man for keeping himself safe and not giving the Arabs more joy by offing the most powerful man in the free world. Our ex Commander-in-heat clinton was never faced with this situation. He never wouldve left Sarasota Fl
