They could have done the same with the old Ranger, tweaked the front fascia and tail lights and bit, and continued to sell them quite well with very little engineering cost!

I think the 1980s platform wasn't meeting newer tougher safety standards

I doubt you will see the 2.7 EB in it, but maybe the 2.0 4 banger EB.

Last December you could have counted me amongst those happy to hear this announcement; however after 8 months with my F150 I can honestly say I don't think I would ever go back.

I went from a truck that could only comfortably hold two adults and select cargo in the bed to a truck that will seat five, a full size skid in the box which gets better fuel mileage and has all the cool "toys" they never put in the little trucks.

If Ford made the decision to try a Ranger again I would hope it would be a success, I just wouldn't be lining up with everyone else to get one.

Well, with a 2.0 EB I'd bet a Ranger would get 30 honest MPG. The current world Ranger is also a lot roomier than the old one.

I'm sure the new Ranger will be much larger than the old one and much nicer. Like the Colorado and Canyon. Those are as large as full size trucks used to be. The one Ford sells in Australia looks like a Honda Ridgeline.
