2015 Torino GT

Just came across this article. THis is a concept but a concept that's pretty much ready to go. Looks like the 5.0 with 435HP is the engine with 0-60 times at estimated under 4 seconds. Top end is 170+/-prox. Just my luck. WE bought the wife a Fusion 6 months ago.

Pretty sure that's a hoax. I read about that a few days back. I believe it's an old concept.

Wonder why they would come out with this, It would be the same thing as owing a mustang.

If it is the size of a Mark VIII with rear wheel drive, I'd be in heat!

My initial thoughts were it's based on the Mustang platform but closer inspection says no. I also looked at the Ford Australia cars and it's not based on one of those either. If it were a Mark VIII sized car, I'd be in line for one.
Don't know about a hoax considering it is a concept. I've never seen it before but then Ford doesn't show me everything.......I'm not in the memo line.

I've said for many years that Ford needs a mid-sized sporting car. I've always thought more "Thunderbird" -- but I could be drawn to a "Torino" just as well!

Looks a bit too much like a Camaro to me, but Torino's were competing with Mustangs back in the day too... Torino's were a bit longer, but still had a cool look to them IMO.. I've always liked them as much as Mustangs, and you could get an old Torino cheaper than a Stang, but I've never had either...

You beat me to it. The rear section looks too much like a modern Camaro for my tastes. It's the quarter panel and window that does it. I'm not a fan of the pillbox style side windows. I understand side impact crash standards are a big driver for this but I still don't like it.

If it's not a stretched Mustang platform what is it based on? I haven't heard anything about a new RWD car platform coming out and the Mustang is the only on Ford has in production anywhere. A new one with a Lincoln variant wouldn't be a bad thing.

Probably based on the new D6 platform that will be going into the new Continental. I think that one is Job One 2017. It's larger than the Mustang and for once Ford actually got one right- this platform goes FWD OR RWD. That's a pretty flexible platform. If the rumors are correct, the new Conti is going to be a sports style hot rod to compete with the Caddy and other luxury hot rods. Like the usual though, you'll know the day they actually deliver them.

Not to be argumentative but the continental looks to be marketed as a luxury sedan. Lincoln's site.

The Lincoln you've posted is SUPPOSED to come with an optional 435HP 5.0, a 385HP EcoBoost, and a 3.5 non turboed V6, all with a 6 speed auto on this rear wheel drive car. Like I said though, these things are like Forrest Gumps box of chocolates, you never know what yer gonna get.

The only engine I've seen mentioned is the exclusive 3.0 ecoboost. The new Taurus has it's design released and that is thought to have the 2.7 and 3.5 ecoboosts with the 3.5 like I have in my '15 Taurus. I hope you're right, but I'm doubtful. It would be great though.

Hmmmm, the link above says the 3.0EB which can I'm guessing is a punched out 2.7. To date all of the car platform EBs have been AWD. I can see this being a good thing on the Continental since most cars in that segment have an optional AWD system. An AWD Torino might be interesting but really doesn't fit the Torino name. A V8 would pretty much force them to either do like Audi and hang the engine way out front and tune out the under steer or be RWD only. It will be interesting to see how this plays out and just how much flexibility they built into this platform.

I hope they do build it with a few changes to the body. Make it look more like the old school Torino and less like a new Camaro. They should also make a GTS version and cram a supercharged Ford 6.2L in it. Now that would be a fun ride!

what am i missing?

0 - 60 in under 4 seconds from a 435hp? Looks like 3800 to 4000 pound car. i would think sub 4 seconds would be 500 plus. I like the idea but i dont think is a car they are going to make anytime soon, but i hope they do.

seem like making the 5.0 the top option dosent fit Fords Plan.
