Just curious, who hunts?
Season on poachers and other fools
Fseries. that is pretty sorry. I am with you, there should be a season on those idiots. We dont have enough game officers to catch all these idiots, poachers, etc. I know there are pretty bad outfitters here in Az also. The ethical hunters really get a bad rap from these dumb As!#$.
I have always wanted to go hunting, but I don't know anyone serious enough about it to go with, and still keep their mind on the feathered or four legged game.
My dads ex girl friend is in her 70's and every year she lives in a cabin up north for about a month before comming back with her 'catch'. Then she comes back, has the meat processed, and packs up and goes to Texas for the rest of fall / winter. Once I talked her into giving me the skin, ($10 extra from the processor) which is draped on the back of my futon in my room. Way better than one of those crocheted thingys.

Whoa! I think we have a title for that hunt..."State Wide non-restricted tag for Poachers and dum As!#$" ...
... and 'dems good eatin! Heck, if they combine it with bear season, we could kill 2 birds with one stone and use 'em as bait!

A few of my buddies are avid hunters and I was going to buy all the gear needed to go with them. I even bought a Remington 870 combo with slug and shot barrells and I havent even hunted with it yet because I got sidetracked when I bought my F-150. I started dumping all of my extra money into the truck and just forgot about hunting. Plus I ride dirtbikes and they require routine maintenence and I love doing that too much to give it up. Just couldn't do it all. I'll just stick to blasting stuff with my hi-po rifles at the range and the occasional match shoot with the M1 Garand for fun. But if I am at the range the 90rd drum is coming out.
Hey Guys
I can't believe I didn't see this thread any sooner. Of course, as you can tell by the name, I love to hunt and fish. I've been all over Texas (which is a big place to cover) hunting Whitetail, muledeer, turkey, pigs(ferral and javelina), all kinds of rabbits, squirrels, dove, duck, quail, varmits and just about anything else you can think of that is native to Texas. I'd really like to go around the world and hunt more big game such as bear, elk, lion, carribou, red stag, etc. Maybe once I'm out of college, though.
everything
I have hunted every animal you can legally hunt in missouri, that includes wild dogs and hogs.
As for New York being the best place to get deer, i would have to say nope, MO is. I have one any-deer tag and three anterless only tags for this year, so does my dad, mom, sister, girlfriend, and girlfriends brother. I have always got this combo of tags.

Trophy vs Meat Hunting
If I was only concerned with filling my freezer with prime CORN FED venison, I would have my tag filled in the first 1/2 hour of the season. Deer season is the only chance that I get to hunt with my dad and his brothers so I don't mind spending a little more time waiting for a big one. If I don't get a chance at a trophy, I don't have a problem shooting a doe for meat.
The whitetails reproduce like crazy in the midwest with their only predators being coyotes and humans with guns/bows and vehicles. If it wasn't for hunters willing to pay for licenses, there would have to be a bounty on them.
Yo Freak,
Is it true that the over-the-counter non-resident elk tag increased from $250 to $450 this year. If I keep putting off my "dream" hunting trips 'til next year, I'll never be able to afford to go.

I hunt
I just got back from first hunting day trip of the year.I brought home 6 mountain quail.I Should have had the limit of 10 but I don't have any hunting dogs and I am not the greatest shot.I probably look like a crazy man out there chasing the quail and grouse throught the trees and brush.lol.It is great fun. This year is a banner year for upland game bird hunting here because we had such a dry spring and the chick survival rate was very good( I can honestly say that I have never seen more quail on one trip than I did today).I also hunt blacktail deer (bucks only).I wasn't fortunate enough to get one last year even though I did see 6 trophy class bucks ( I just couldn't get a shot on any of them).Whitetail deer are supposed to be endangered around here.Don't tell this to them though, they are everywhere around town and you guys are right they do multiply like crazy. The state has been thinking about opening a season on them for the last five years but just because we have a large concentation of them in my area doesn't make them not endangered in the pacific northwest.I usually buy a cougar and bear tag also just in case I see one while hunting deer.

Getting a new ladder stand today, found some on sale. Love to hunt deer. That's about the only hunting I do unless you count the occasional grouse or squirrel. I'm afraid to take up turkey, it might cut into my spring trout fishing.
Lots of deer here
A buddy of mine went out to do some scouting last night on the property that we hunt. He saw 6 nice deer and his son saw an even dozen. 3 weeks from today bow season opens.
Looking forward to getting back into the woods. The peace of it all is wonderful. Nothing but the great outdoors. Gives you time to appreciate the beauty God created.
