New Vehicle.. All Good Things Must Come To An End

It is time to sell my faithful companion of 7 years. She was bought in 2007 with 11,000 miles. She now sits 9 years old with 74,000 miles. We have been through our ups and downs, but overall the F-150 has been a great truck. This truck and I have a lot of great memories.

As she currently sits:

Unfortunately, all good things must come to the end. That time is now in the ownership of my truck. After college I took a position with an engineering firm in St. Louis, MO and the truck is not the most practical vehicle. Its a pain to park everywhere I go, I really don't use it for what it is anymore, fuel cost an arm and a leg with the amount of driving I do. Soon she will be put for sale and hopefully she can find a new, good home. I think like many members here I get very attached to my vehicle. I may tear up when she drives away with a new owner.

As for my new ride I decided to go with something a little more youthful. Not sure practical, but it's a blast to drive.

2014 Ford Mustang GT Premium in Oxford White w/ 6-Speed Manual.

Mustangs are terrible in the snow. They still have the light rear end with too much weight on the front wheels.
They surely are lots of fun though.

Debbie Downer.... haha, good one!!!

I think that's a nice ride!

Eh... speaking of which... gee I wonder if Ford will ever make an AWD an option on the Mustang?

I'd love to see some kind of digital proportioning control that allows the user to set presets, like 90% front/10% rear, 100% rear, 50%/50%, etc, etc... along with Gravel, snow, tarmac, etc... would be very cool to have that as an option.

@Black: Well the mustang to me is more practical in the fact that it is a car vs truck. Beyond that for personal reasons and any arguments I would make someone would just put down. Basically I wanted something fun and fast for awhile. I will be in a truck soon again. I can say I get better than your 15.7 mpg in your sig .

@harley: I'm a little reluctant to do many performance mods right now due to the fact that shes fresh out with a warranty. Research shows a cai isn't going to give me gains that are worth much vs price over factory cai. I would eventually like to tune, o/r h pipe, and go from there with performance mods. For now I plan to do some basics such as window tint, new wheels, new axle back exhaust, possibly lower it. Also some general paint work and touch up to get ride of the few chrome pieces on the car.

@Manual: A AWD Mustang would be pretty nice. Especially with the options you listed. But I can say that I'm pretty sure it will never happen. Takes to much away from its muscle car origins. Although the '15 seems to be pushing towards a more European market.

Nothing that a set of Blizzaks and some weight in the trunk can't fix.

Nice! That's all it is. Nothing wrong with it, but yea, I bet you'll have to have a truck again in the future. Just to feel somewhat whole again lol. You'll still love the car; you contemplate, -should I swing both?

You used the term "more practical" in your reasoning for moving to the Mustang or I would not have pointed out the Mustang rear traction issue.
In my young days, I had a stick 56 V8Chevy Convertible, 59 Impala coupe with V8, stick with overdrive an 4.11 rear, 65 Chevelle, 4 speed, 300hp 327, 69SS396 Chevelle with 4 sp, and other hot rods. So, I fully understand the urge to get a GT Mustang!
This past Christmas, my son flew down from NYC to visit and rented a Hertz Penske GT. It had a tune and CAI that added 16hp. It also had GT 500 mufflers that were loud but did not drone. I drove it and would have loved it in my young days, but now I prefer my quiet Hemi Magnum.

I know the feeling, dude. Trading my '07 F150 was one of the hardest things I've done as far as vehicles are concern. The Edge Sport is great, but it's no F150. At least it's still in the family. Like you, I'm sure I'll be in another truck soon. - Og
