I thought Jaq and Aston when I saw it this morning as well. The rear section and roofline of the vanquish come to mind. Similar for sure

I'm not a huge fan. I was hoping for something completely new and different, but it seems to be more of an extension of the past couple retro cars. Makes me glad I bought my '08, as I think that body style is hands down the nicest looking of the retro cars.

A 200 pound weight loss, wider rear track and IRS should tighten things up, especially if the weight was cut from the nose of the car. The Camaro is toast for sure, the M4 is gonna get a run for its life, nothing MB has for under $100k (including AMGs) stands a chance.
For sure this car will turn the pony car market on it's head. Chevy won't know what to do with this car as it's now approaching the weight and power of the C7 Corvette.

I love this car as a car. But I'm still not sure if I want to accept it as a Mustang. Just doesn't scream 'Murica to me as a Mustang should. It's classic American nostalgia after all.

I see this as what the Ford Probe and Probe GT would have eventually turned into.

This is pretty much exactly how I feel, except that I don't even like it as a car very much - rear end is awful

reminds me of the 70 GT350 Shelby. I like that Ford Mustang has always looke like a mustang. You could have been off the planet for the last 40 years abd that car would be recognizable as a Mustang. Thats what killed the last generation of Camaro. Looked more like a Saturn then it did the early Camaro.

I have heard this on a few other places on the interwebs and do not understand it at all. There's a ton of old Mustang cues all over the car. The front end looks a lot like a '68-70 but of the nose had to be raised to comply with Euro pedestrian safety standards. The roof line is very similar to the New Edge body. I have a feeling the slope of the rear end was to clean up the aeros of the car for MPG and high speed stability. If there wasn't a single logo on the car I have a feeling that all but the most non-car people on the planet would instantly recognize it as a Mustang.

Ford nailed the rear end. I think they're gonna start rivaling the Vette in performance.

it looks like a jag/aston front end that was mixed with a 370 roofline, and given a 68 stang rear end.

With the sloping front end, it reminds me a bit of the 90s Mustang. It keeps some of the styling of the 60s to make it recognizable but adds a bit of slope to make it sleeker, like the 90s.
