Pipeline cam

Just checked the pipeline cam. Looks like they are getting 15-20' waves with a lot of nuts trying to ride them.

I have been looking in a few times a day for a while and these are by far the largest waves I have seen there.

I watched it for about 10 minutes. Didn't see anyone at first and I couldn't tell if the camera was panning from here. However, I seen people in the water (hard to see) and then the board launch lol. The camera must be panning, - either that or that last big one took them all under for awhile lol.

It's not dark at all. Currently there's about 30-35 people in the water catching waves left and right.

Yes they do pan at times to other points where there may not be any surfers. Just remember that if on the east coast that the time difference is 6 hours. You probably will not be able to see anything until 1-2 PM.

This story was perfect timing for this thread. Seems a Brazilian surfer rode the biggest wave a surfer ever rode 100'. Of the coast of Portugal. Wave was caused by a storm. When you look at the pic, the surfer can barely be seen up against the wall of water.

When you ride those tall waves it's almost a 50/50 chance you'll die or get hurt pretty bad...you need a lot of gut's or just be plain nut's to do it! Don't know if you've ever seen the Endless Summer movie which show's the travel's around the world of a couple of young surfer's trying to find the perfect wave. I don't do waves at the football games anymore!

Not a question of guts, just plain nuts or really stupid. I have seen shows and movies on surfing. The perfect wave has nothing to do with it's size, just the way it breaks so you can get the longest ride.
Those larger waves when they break is like having a house fall on you. And yes there have been quite a few die from it.

That's something else. Haven't found vid footage of that yet, but you have to wonder what it feels like on top. That's a very cool shot, - Carlos made history.

I recall being tackled by a wave, - bounces you off the bottom s few times, keeps you there for a little while, - disorients you for a bit. But hell, that's just little lake Michigan waves..

Here you go. He didn't get buried until after the wave broke, fortunately for him. I am sure it still pounded him around some.
