Zero tolerance policies should be abolished. Sadly, this isn't the first I've heard of instances like this.

A police officer present has also testified that *** had just arrived, was entirely sober, and had done nothing wrong.

Wow, that will teach kids how to do the right thing.

I think the whole volley ball team should just all protest and quit to show their support of their captain

Exactly. As someone that picked drunk friends up more than a few times in high school, and often was a DD when I did go to parties, this is ridiculous. Had I been suspended from football for keeping my friends, and potentially others, safe, my family would've raised all kinds of hell. Not to mention the responses from all of our family friends. I'm glad this is getting around.

Other "zero tolerance" policy circumstances that I've witnessed, and even been a part of, are stupid. It's an easy way for morons to make decisions.

for every single varsity sport i played in high school we had to sign a no alcohol/drugs/party contract in order to play. this exact situation happened with a female cheerleader picking up her boyfriend from a party, cops showed up while she was picking him up and she was kicked off the cheer squad. im totally on your side here, but at least in my case we had to sign a contract so when we broke it, it was pretty easy to kick us off. aint that america

I can say this....if the attorney either purposefully made a false statement about the former Captain being arrested or failed to verify/affirm such information prior to submission, I would not hesitate to file a compliant with the Bar and get an injunction from the courts.....
say goodbye to that bar license.....

That's sad. Any time stuff like that is optional, I have refused to sign it. I've taken a lot of tests with an "academic honesty" pledge, and I've refused to sign that as well out of principle.

All of our male sports teams would've been playing with 15% of the starting roster if something like that was implemented and heavily enforced. Though I swear our football coaches knew exactly who went to what party EVERY time . . .

Truckguy, I'm in Texas and it's still bad! I hope I never have to relocate though. You gotta get the hell out haha

The part I don't get is this didn't t happen at school or during school hours, so why is the school involved any way? To even to accept that the school has any jurisdiction here is over the line in my book.

Schools have been indoctrinating and decensitizing the youth for 30+ years.. with big government lib agendas.. just no sure this counts.. sounds like there is more too the story possibly. Maybe she'll choose better friends from now on i guess. Tough lesson.. life's not fair.

You'd be surprised at everything school's get involved with now. I had buddies that yelled at a kid, in their neighborhood on a Saturday, and were suspended from school for 3 days back in middle school. There were many instances in high school where students were punished in school for out-of-school activities. Nobody ever raises any real hell about it, so it keeps happening. I consider it to be a complete violation of personal rights and that the schools are entirely out of line and out of bounds of their jurisdiction.

You'd also be shocked about everything going on inside schools as well. They require you to sign away every right guaranteed to you outside of the school. The can do whatever, whenever to whomever they like and any piece of property. Search and seizures occur without any sort of plausible cause - frequently. Also, being Muslim essentially excludes you from the rules and you don't have to abide by anything that you don't like. I don't want to open an ethnic/religious can of worms here, so please don't. But anything that has to do with personal hygiene (facial hair), clothing, hair styles only apply to non-Islamics. I know a nicely-groomed lumberjack beard is not required in that religion lol
