well yes ...as it should....perhaps then one could see if there was diminished oil supply to one area was my thought.

the concern was more ...would it mess with, or mess up the PCM or cause mechanical issues of some kind??

Perhaps you should bring it up to operating temp before you start it with the cover off. That way it'll idle down quicker. I've seen people do that with the older push rod motors, but that was a little different...

I'd lay rags down just in case. That's not a big deal. Damn wish I still had my library card (remember that glc lol), I could look your engine up that way.

Oh yea, are you sure that's a vacuum line and not some sort of PCV line? Do a test start with it off, to see how the idle reacts. You may have to plug it for the idle to go down. Check it out before removing the cam cover.

Hmmm daughter took it back to college...but it is not tons of miles to go get it again.

It maybe a PCV line but it is pretty much a straight though molded line about the size of a marker....pretty sure there is no restrictions in it. goes to the throttle body
