Question Avid ATVers Only!!!!!!

Bored @ work so here goes.

If you are an ATV nut, what's your favorite? Big Red, Kawi,
Yamaha? O.K. I'll add Suzuki also.

In my opinion, Big Red is the only way to go! I currently own or
have owned:

*Honda Foreman S
*Yamaha T-wolf
*Yamaha Big Bear
*Honda 185 S
*Honda 110
*Honda 125

Mine are used mainly for hunting and trail riding. Anybody?

in between me and my family we own 4 Kawisaki Prairie 400 4x4's

we have not had any problems out of any of them so far. I am sure that the other quads are very good also but my uncle had always bought Kawi's and never had any trouble out of any of them

check out my pics

stuck in the mud with worn out factory dunlops

not gonna have the above problem anymore

Ron993,
Have you taken a look at the new Prairie V-twin. It's tough!
I noticed the vampires. They are a great mud tire! They do suck
up some horses though. Nice pics!

hey trapper

i have looked at the new 650 and i really want one, but i refuse to buy a first year model on something that is just going to get ragged on. As for the tires i went with the 26" which is just 1" taller than the stock tires and i really do not see much of a power loss. i have not done any mods to it other than putting synthetic oil in it. thanks on the pics, here is the link to some more if you want to look.

my stuff

Originally had an '82 honda 185S 3-wheeler. Great machine for many years. As I got older I grew tired of the instability and lack of suspension. Then bought a used '92 Yamaha 350 4X2. Lasted for about a year till I couldn't stand it anymore and had to have a 4X4. Now its a Yamaha Big Bear. Probably won't change for a long time and won't go back to a 4X2. Although sure would like to have one with the automatic.

?!?!

no no no, this is not right, 4 wheels...that is 2 too many. Team green and 2 wheels are the only way to go. You don't need any of that small stuff either, something around 500cc will be sufficient. Oh and you need to premix your fuel.

No thanks. I've even given up pre-mixing the outboard and besides 2 wheels makes balancing the cooler with the case of cold beer difficult.

well this thread kinda goes in both directions for me.....i just owned a 450 Foreman ES then traded that for a 2001 RM 125...that didnt go over too good...couldnt put my girl on there and no room for Gun Boot, Bow holder, or Cooler so i ditched that thang and downsized to a 350 Honda Rancher S (2000 model) with plans for a dirt bike some time in the near future

Polaris!!!

Y2K Sportsman 500 (non-H.O.)...

Yeah I know it's a Sportsman so no flames...

I ride it whenever and wherever possible. I don't have the H.O. but I'm told it kicks some serious butt. I almost considered the Rubicon but I really fell in love with the IRS and ground clearance on the Sp500. I had an xPlorer 400 2 stroker with a few mods and that beast was fast with an easy and quite scary top speed of about 64.

Sorry, I don't have a pic handy at the moment though...

My dad and I are looking to get a new Honda 350 Rancher. I have driven Honda 300's all my life, and have driven many others, and would have to say honda RULES!! Where i worked this summer, we had a Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O. , that thing would flat out GO. It was damn crazy.

ALl you with the Rancher, how do you like it?

Hunter

Thumbs up

Polaris xPlorer 400 2 stroke (4X4):

Hey, It goes! But can you ever beat the dependability of my old 88 honda 350? Not a chance. I think the Polaris will go down the road and back to the trusty old Honda. Gonna wait a few years and buy the rubicon but I may just get that 400 S sitting on the local lot for a years or three.

My bottom line two cents. Ride trails fast? Polaris
Bull and push and work a machine? Honda

Had bad and good experiences with Yamaha. Big bear lost her transmission but the Grizzly I ran a summer ago was flat out a beast!

Cool

The Polaris HO definetly hauls. I have a friend with one. I've
seen him rip up several new quads, just not my 450.

YAMAHA

Warrior, that's not even close to being stock. Good running bike. Eats 4ooEX's going thru the gears, but not so good top end. I really didn't build it for top end. She runs with the best of them.
