Put a pond in the backyard

So after cleaning out my grandfathers pond I decided that I wanted to put a pond of my own in our backyard. We have a fire pit in the backyard often and have some cigars and a drink so a water feature would be great .... love the sound of running water.

The pond liner (and flat rock) actually came from my other grandparents front yard. It was too much to keep clean and attracted deer that were eating flowers. So with some convincing of my father he agreed and I go to work. Did not take but 2 hours and we had a pond haha.

It's not a big one and a good one to start out to see if we like it.

Here are some pictures.

Laying it out

Nicely done. I'd like a pond a little larger in my yard.

I'm surprised you were able to build a proper sized hole for it. Looks good though. One of the neighbors has a pretty large one with some big koi fish in it

Don't spend much on the first fish you put in there, they will die or be eaten by the local critters. Just go to the pet shop and get some "feeder" gold fish, they are like the ****roaches of the fish world and will live forever!

Getting further .... will have a nice ledge of rock around it probably by tonight. That's a Papyrus plant in there as well from my grandparents pond.

I'm sure it will grow as it grows on my parents had to get my foot in the door and it was free so who wouldn't do it!

Gold fish were going in there from the start! They sure do live forever and look beautiful. Thanks

Very neat. Now I want to build a pond....and a rock garden. No grass. I'm tired of mowing.

I like ponds, but they are a severe hazard when I'm drunk in the backyard... which is quite often.
