Knee issues?

Im only 33 and starting to have some knee problems i think. My house is a basement rancher and we park in the basement. The lot didnt allow us to build a main level garage so we opted for a basement. So, for the last 12 years i have walked steps to go inside the house and now i am noticing a constant click in my right knee while climbing the stairs. I was hoping for some insight before i called the doctor. Has anyone experienced this and what has been the outcome? I dont want to ignore it and have a serious problem years from now. Im not over-weight, 185 @6'1" but have been slightly years ago, 205 lbs. Never played sports, so no injury there. I guess i need a little clarification of what might be going on. It doesnt hurt when it clicks but i can feel it doing it. My wife said i need to be taking Glucosemen (sp?) but i may be calling the dr soon to find out what might be the problem. This is all i need is more bills. I had gallbladder surgery in December, paid the bill in Feb, paid the truck off in March (thank goodness) wife came up and needed braces, $5000.00 up front cost, and we just built a new deck at the house and paid that bill on Friday, $2000.00 worth. So we have been through some cash since the first of the year and i really dont need any more surgeries to worry about. If some one has experience with this area, please lend some advice. I want to get a jump start on the issue.

from the sounds of it you wont have to be forking out major cash. i played 3 sports through high school and 1 through college and i click also. it may be as simple as getting some fluid removed but at your age i doubt youll have to have a knee replacement. here is a pretty good article on it. i would at least go have an mri done to avoid problems in the future
