Did the first shop actually replace the compressor? It sounds like they just refilled it with freon and gave it back to you. Just refilling it with freon can buy 2 weeks of the ac working for the check to clear. You're probably going to have to take them to court. If you can get Midas to write a description of what was wrong with the ac system and the needed repairs, that would be great ammo to take to court.

Saying, "we don't have the proper diagnostic tool" after they charged you 2400 dollars and couldnt repair it is no excuse. They should've told you that up front so you could take it somewhere else from the beginning.

Definitely makes me wonder if they really looked at it. Sometimes the simplest issues are overlooked

Well the Freon leaked out 2 days later. Took it back to Midas to run the UV light on it after the dye test.Turns out it is the expansion valve, idecided to let midas do the work on it since they seem knowledgeable so far and have been honest... Pulled off the part and it was new but not a oem Mercedes.. Cross referenced the part number to oreillys.

So i got to thinking if they did this to all the parts,i had midas go over all the parts they replaced (what was on the receipt) and nothing is mercedes. Not even the compressor!

So the SOBs charged him for factory parts and then got them from oreillys.. So as anyone could guess i was super pissed... I had midas take me to get my truck then went back to midas and had them throw all the parts in back of the truck and i went to the original shop with reciept in hand.

I walked in and told the Owner come out to my truck with your ac guy.. so after about 5 mins they both walked out i put the tailgate down and said show me where these are factory parts.. Yal should have seen the looks on their face... The mechanic turned around and walked off then the owner had the nerves to tell me i could have got the parts from anywhere.. I told him i wanted a complete refund on ALL work plus parts and what i have paid Midas so far.. He told me i wasnt getting any money back and to take them to court..

So after another few minutes the cops ended up being called again. 4 cops showed up and told them the story... Ended up they actually did a police report for me.

After midas gets done with it im headed down to file a law suit.. I have the police report, all the receipts, a bill from midas saying what the defective part was and that they did not think they were merecedes replacement..

Im just going to get midas to Reinstall all the parts the original place put on and a new expansion valve and pay them for the labor plus the part.

Sorry about the crappy punctuation and spelling. Im on my Phone

Wow, sounds like they really were screwing you.

Good for you for looking out for your dad, and good luck in court.

BTW, I hope your paperwork shows that OEM Mercedes parts were required and included. That should make it clear cut, especially if the Midas guy will verify in writing the O'Reilly's parts were on the vehicle.

Yes the receipt show Mercedes parts with the part numbers but its not what was on there.. Midas did write on their receipt that as far as they could tell by running the part numbers they were not factory parts..

I figured they didn't install Mercedes parts at all. They knew your father was old and counted on him never finding out.

Sounds like you've got a good case. Just make sure you have EVERYTHING documented and recorded including the dates and approximate times you spoke with the liars. The police report is a big help.

I've been threw the law suit stuff three times. This will be the 4th. So far every time I've filed with the JP they go to serve the papers I get a call they want to deal with it out of court and we settle up.. Hoping this is the way it goes.. All the receipts are in my name also from previous repairs done on different vehicles, so they put my name on the invoices instead of dads.. So I'll be able to deal directly with it.

That whole situation is disgusting and unacceptable. It's one thing to refuse to "re-fix" a job that you've done, but lying to an old man about what parts you used is a whooooole nother thing. It's very disappointing that the owner was such a ***** right off the bat. It's amazing to me that people run their businesses like this, especially when he already made more than a healthy chunk of change from using cheaper parts. How's about standing behind the business that is your livelihood and represents your family's name?

You should consider releasing the name of the business so that others know to stay away. Wouldn't want your friends and neighbors getting screwed as well. I'm sure a good amount of us aren't too far from your neck of the woods, even if you are a little "out west" haha

Right, we should have an F150online meet &greet in the owners parking lot. Sounds like a good place to meet up anyway.

Sounds like a plan! You round up the Midwest, I'll work on TX and LA. Together, we'll overrun the establishment in question!!
