In 2000, the 4six had COP ignitions and the ECT sensor was eliminated. In 2001 the 4six was blessed w/power improved heads. Then, the "Drive by wire" in 04.

Right, the 5four uses the COP ignitions, since inception, = 97+

Thanks' guys!! This is great knowing i am going in the right direction, makes work a lot easier when you know you are doing something that needs to be done... I am going to lift off the cab one more time today and swap all the wiring including the transmission.. it will be simple with the cab up!! Is there any senders that should be switched? Today is the day to take care of whatever needs to be done, i guess i just got in to much of a hurry when i swapped the motors and neglected to change the wire harness because all the connections looked the same, i should of known better seeing i am not a computer person and with the cops and pats and keys with chips in them i should know they do not mix and match.......... If any of you come up with any other things please let me know today, say before 3:00 o'clock when i expect to be lowering the cab again.........THANKS......

If it was me doing the work I would lay the two harness out on the garage floor and compare them. This will let you know exactly what is different. Based on what Brew said above you might end up with a bit of a hybrid or you'll have to transfer the ECM with the PATS etc over.

Every thing matched perfect except for one ground that was in front of engine on 01 and rear of motor on 99 but there was a vacant hole for it on the frame of the 99 so it was nothing, i did grind the surface to make good contact.. Both trucks ran before i started this transplant.... Can anyone tell me if this should work or is there other things i need to do to make them work. I am planning to lift the cab again tomorrow and change back to my original harnesses but do not want to do it unless it is necessary... Thanks in advance and if possible give me some good news tonight ....
Your harness HAS TO match your PCM.

99 PCM = Coil Packs/Plug wires and ECT. So you'll have to mount the packs on the 01 engine (easy and there's absolutely no performance dif between the two type ignitions)

The 99 uses an ECT sensor. So you'll have to incorporate. Look to see if the 01 intake manifold has an extra hole that's plugged. Probably not. So you'll have to install a brass T into the coolant line somewhere. A pipe thread T that will except the ECT threads. Yea, the 99 PCM WILL NOT fire the engine without doing the above.

The grounds your referring to are Engine/Cab grounds. Grounded differently, depend on the intake, - Metal vs Composite. Metal is at the firewall. Composite is at the front of the engine.

The 2001 PCM. You'll need everything from the doner. Sounds like you have it right ? That's what you need. The 01 cab PCM complete. Trans has to match PCM as well.

Just got back from dinner at one of my favorite places about 15 miles away and guess what???? I got to drive my old 1999 f 150 and she ran perfect!!! I started at about 9:am and had the cab up by 10am then i changed transmission harness first and there was one sender or switch not sure what it is but it is on passenger side of trannie and it would not plug in to the 99 harness so i swapped the switch and then went on to the eng harness and everything there just plugged in with no extra or missing plugs in either harness every thing was plenty long enough so no splicing!! i did have to change a control that worked off the chimney pipe that connects to the drivers side exhaust because it was different between the 01 and 99 and also the 99 was more forward on the motor but the 01 had the mount in place with the needed studs that were vacant and available for the part to bolt up the only thing was the two rubber hoses were not long enough and i could not get the chimney pipe off the 99 to swap so i got two longer hoses and all was well... the 99 only had one HCT sender and no ECT on the manifold so i did not have to do the brass fitting thing!! The coils both bolted up in the same place on both motors and the job was so easy a cave man could do it!! Changed one hose on heater core because the 01 outlet is on the front and 99 is on back of intake and hose was too short... I did learn not to mess with those quick couplers because the one i swapped ended up leaking... Lowered the cab back down around1:30 pm and turned the key at 3:00 pm.. When i turned the key i only got my dash lit up and nothing else!! Would not crank so i left the key on and jumped across the solenoid on the fire wall to see if it would crank and it fired up as if it was just shut off a few minutes ago... I then drove it and seen the OD off light flashing and noticed i did not have any back up lights so i went under it and swapped the switch at the shift lever on the tranny and to my surprise every thing now works and i am one happy ford truck owner!!! THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL YOUR INPUT, THIS REALLY HELPED ME A LOT AND HOPE I CAN HELP SOMEONE ELSE ONE DAY.........Ed
