Is my poor Scarlet Jynxed?
Or is it just my bad luck? Had another annoying mishap a couple of weeks ago. For a time it seemed like I was having these small, annoying mishaps on a regular basis. But this last one was about a year since the last one. I took delivery on 01/21/2011. Should I make a list? Yes, I think I shall..
03/28/11 - A stone kicked up in front of me and cracked the windshield. Had it replaced.
09/22/11 - Had to replace my new Coopers with another set because they wouldn't stay balanced. I used Coopers for years and never had a problem. The current set have been flawless.
10/15/11 - I was out at my property in West Virginia. I was on a narrow blacktop road going to Walmart. An oldtimer was coming the other way in a old chevy pick up with the old big chrome towing mirrors they had back then. I was almost of the side but he still managed to SMACK my mirror! It smacked the side of the truck. Luckily no body damage, but had to replace the lower mirror and signal indicater.
10/29/11 - In WV again. A surprise snow and ice storm gave us 9" of the stuff. Started up our lane which has an average incline of 9%, peaks at 15% or so. Dummy me, didn't put it 4 wheel drive, slid back down the hill about 100 feet and BANG! Slid into a small tree and there went the passanger side mirror. Luckily (abait my Ego) no body damage. Had the mirror replaced.
12/03/11 - Bought the front brushguard at the local Rhino Lining shop and had them install it. Didn't see it until the next day when I was taking some pictures of the truck, But there were some deep scratches and a small thin gouge about three inches long on the passanger side rear door. Of course they denied it. Had it fixed (the first time) under my comprehensive.
01/08/12 - I was at my brother in laws. He was helping me install my driving lights onto the brushguard. He promised me he could get the wires thru the firewall without any damage. Yea, right. Afterwards I was having some strange issues with lights in the dash, and remote start not working, some strange things that I can't remember at the moment. Dealer found that the issues were from where he pushed the wires thru (at the bundle on the drivers side) and stretched some of the wires in the harness. They covered under warranty.
05/13/12 - (Second attempt to repair scratches).Took it back to the body shop (ford dealership were I bought it) because I could still see the scratches on the door were they tried to fix it.
01/22/12 - I was at the bank. This was the day when a cold front came thru here, temp. dropped like thirty degrees and the wind was wild. I opened the door to get out of the truck and the wind just YANKED the door out of my hands, swung it back towards the front fender. I tried to grab it but wasn't quit quick enough. It damaged the door skin at the bottom hinge, looked like two slashes I guess from the hinge. And the doot wouldn't close right like it was misaligned.
02/04/13 - So, that's were she is now. Getting that fixed, and for the THIRD time, trying to repair those same scrathes on the other door from over a year ago.
My sister seems to think I should trade her in. I thought about it. Went to the ford website to check out the new F150's. See what kind of updates there really are, any changes. Used the caculater to build one comparible to mine. Of course packages are different, some changes, some new things like the HID headlights, Powerscope mirrors. The build came in between $53,000-$54,000. Trade in for mine, by KBB, Edmunds, and NADA is between $30,000-$38,000 depending on. There ain't now way! At this moment, with all the add-ons and modifications I've added to Scarlet I have invested about $63,500.00 into her. I own her free and clear. IF were to trade her, I would want another one just like her, and remove all the current mods from Scarlet and have them installed on the new truck. And I don't see that happening. I think I will just update her. Get the Powerscope mirrors for starters... So there you have it. Am I Jynxed?

The door damage from "over-extending" the hinges is sorta frustrating, huh. It's happened to a lot of people.
Seems like a better door stop design would cure that problem....
And it could be worse. I didn't read anything about a water leak from your cab brake light.

By the time you took rebates, you should be around 10k off I would think. So the price isn't as large as you are making it sound.
Now would I trade it in, no. But if you are looking for an excuse, entertain yourself and for ****s and grins go see what they'll offer you and where the numbers are at. At worst, you wasted 2 hours of your life.

no sense in trading in your truck for one eerily similar to it, then throwing all your mods on it. things happen, they are only vehicles (i know, hard for even me to admit), but all in all those things that happened aren't serious (though they may be frustrating)! its a good looking truck, dont give up on it!
sounds like once the nut holding the steering wheel gets replaced ol' scarlet will have a better life as most of the "issues" seem to be "mechanic" VS " mechanical"

06yz250f - since you must know, you've beat it out of me.
Rebates and factory discounts at that time were only $2,500. And I got 'em all. Even got an extra grand for financing (which is included in the 2,500).
My truck (which I special ordered in oct of '10) stickered at 50,230.00
I paid 45,413+2,290 tax/tags = 47,703. Incentives/Rebates of2,500 = makes final price 45,203.00. Extended warranty (I know) 2,500=$47,703. + 6,019 for Dealer add-ons: (Rhino lining, Undercover tonneau cover, Dual DVD headrests, Factory skid plates and cable lock ) = $53,722.00. Then what I've paid for what I've added so far (to much to list) 9,873.00 makes an approximate investment of $63,595.00 Smackaroos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So yea, the price is as large as I made it
I was thinking about it just for giggles. But really have no intentions of trading her. I love her

I know, I'm just in a weird mood tonight. Too much medicine I think
I'm unaware of 10,000 in rebates. Maybe combined rebates and haggling with the dealer might get 10,000? But I really didn't look that closely either. Just went to the ford website to check 'em out and play with the build calculater. When I optioned a Lariat like mine it was alot more (sticker) than what I paid. Was just thinking out loud. Never sais I was normal................

02/08/13 - Manager of the body shop called me around 4:30 friday evening and said the truck was ready to be picked up. But he had to leave but it was ready to go. With traffic I didn't get there until about 5:45 (they close at 6:00). Walked in, did the paper work got the keys and went to the truck. It's dark and all I had were street lights. But as soon as I opened the door I could tell. The door still didn't open right and I still had to slam it shut. What gives?! PLUS, there was a piece of trim sitting on my drivers seat. Were the h*ll did it go? Then I looked at the paint but couldn't tell anything because it was raining. Looked at the brushguard and realized my worse fear. The wire sheathing for my driving lights were pulled out and the rubber grommets were pushed up inside the lights like someone tried to fix it. Popped the hood to check the wire connections and the hood hit the brushguards top bar. Before it had about a 3/4" clearance. My zip ties were cut that I used to retain the wires behind the grill. That was it. It was wet and cold but I had enough. I marched right back inside and told them this job sucked. They said the manager was gone but bring it back on monday. Well in the meantime, on sat. morning I went out for an inspection. On top of all that, The paint repair they were to do on the door edge had scratches where they tried to buff it. The dimples were still on the door edge from the hinge. Apparently they had to remove my 6.2 emblem to do the patchwork, but the guy scribed a line in the paint, that's still there, and still didn't get it straight. Oh, I'm just getting started...I keep my truck very clean, even the door jambs are shiny and look new. But when I got it back there was compound and compound residue in every door jamb, on every hinge, on the inner painted surfaces of every door, on all the weather seals, on the exterior door handles and in all those creases and crevices it was caked. Plus, from the last mishap, they were to repair again the passanger side rear door where it got scratched. They got it this time (on the third attempt), but left compound all over the window trim...........
Called the insurance company to complain, then took it back this morning, they are paying for my rental truck (2013 XLT) and I will be giving them the gas reciept. So now lets see what happens...........

Had a really bad day when my grandfather passed back in February and decided to gas up the truck and take it for a long drive and do some thinking. Opened up the door at the pump and the wind took it in one big gust and banged it off the pump foundation. Put a huge dent in my door. Had a paintless dent removal guy come out to me for no charge and fixed my dent for 40 bucks. Find someone like that and keep their card. It's too hard to keep a truck pristine no matter how far back you park it in the lot or how much you baby it.
PS - Your truck is beautiful. Don't dump her!
