Definitely, after a little education. I haven't looked for problems yet. I ran across a few they had in early development, but it's been overcome.

Well for all my monthly backups, I put all the important stuff on three different drives in three different places for storage for water/fire/theft proofing. If one actually does fail, I'm still good.

Well decided against it, now is not the time IMO. Going to stick with the HDD's for the seriouse stuff.

But,

I may do this, just to try one out.

Quote from a friend, -

"SSD's - you can always buy a small one to just put the O/S partition and/or page swap file on. Small ones are getting cheap - but treat it as a consumable wear item and keep good backups . None of this 1TB nonsense - that's a disaster waiting to happen."

After reading thru those links further up; well, I'll just say that was an eye opener as well.

I really appreciate all the info fellas.

SSD also get slower when they get close to maximum capacity. As does any hard drive.

Cooling is a long battle i dealt with on my Xbox case computer... Lots of goodies crammed in a tight space with no room to breathe....

Yea, when it gets tight, they either get hot or they're loud as hell staying cool. Unless liquid cooled, but you need room for that lol.

I can't stand hearing a computer run, annoying as hell IMO. They're all quiet now, can hardly hear them purr unless your right on top of it.

I built this one here about a year and a half ago. A 64 bit. Just fired it up once my laptop went down. Wish I would have been using this one all along. Built it, then lost interest I guess. Have to get use to W7 , had to update the snot out of it as well

There aren't any 1tb SSD's out yet - and when they do show up I bet they will be very expensive.

The only SSD I trust is an Intel 330 or 520.

WD Black is my choice for spin drives.

Yea, I can't trust the WD Black now. From what happen to mine and after reading of others having the same problems with them.

I trust their other drives tho. I'll use the one I have as a clone back up, then put it back in the box.

So you like Intel over Samung ? Yea, I'm going to try a smaller SSD in the laptop. Keep using HDD's in the desktop.

I still won't get anything but a Black for a spin drive. There are bad batches of anything but I prefer the speed and the 5 year warranty.

I prefer Intel SSD's because they have the best firmware.

Yea, maybe that's all it is. Great warranty, that's for sure.

That's good to know about Intel, thanks.

Mannn, -Anyone know where to get monitor back light tubes. Located just one supplier thus far; they're asking $15 apiece and I want 6 of them, -need 2.

Looking for tubes that Fit a Gateway FPD2185W, 18" solder in. Best monitor ever thought up, but it's the absolute worst ever made lol. When they work, I'd put it up against any in production today. Anyway, I've modified/upgraded the PCB's to the hilt, for the reasons above. All I need is tubes, -trying to get a part no; starts w/ED then disappears on the part itself. Not sure why these are hard to find, but, yea.
