I don't think that was an option ( it was unlimited for the device only - no turning it into a hot spot for laptop / table access ), but I cannot recall what I read about the ruling on it.

If you add the "hotspot" option to your phone, it changes your plan to the "shared everything" plan and you lose unlimited. Best bet is to buy a Droid DNA (or whatever), root it, then download the wifi tether app, then voila. Same unlimited plan, no extra 10 bucks for tethering, and it works like a charm.

Also, not the case a while back, but now Sprint/Verizon use the same towers. Sprint will F you, though, if you have their "anymobile anytime" or whatever it is called, because if you are roaming, those calls count against you. If you are like 4 blocks away from your house, you are roaming. Having driven all the way across the country multiple times with both Sprint and Verizon, I have to say the coverage (with newer phones) is pretty much the same (again because they both use the same towers). Verizon is higher, but better customer service.

Bottom line, use what works best where you are.
