I stocked up earlier this summer expecting this election result. I think prices will level out and may even recede a bit early next year.....until Obama starts talking about introducing a modified AWB in his 2nd or 3rd year of his next term.

Didn't take long. I refrain from any further comments. Off to the store I go

It has already shot up in the past few years, and it will probably keep going up slow but steady. 5 years ago you could buy a box of 550 .22 round for $5-$7, and now the cheapest boxes of 550 are $15. Glad my dad was able to stock up on ammo at cheap prices while he was with the police department.

Obama is going to be so busy with the debacle of his economy in the next few years that limitations on ammunition purchases won't even come up on his radar screen. I can't believe this clown got re-elected!

FWIW, every stock on the Dow Jones went down today.

Smith and Wesson stock went up 10%.

Think this could be from supply and demand, same as the gas pump ?

There is only so much, and people buy cases to horde it.

Store shelves go empty, 5 clowns on the internet start the ground zero internet rumor mill about ammo shortages, 500 people go out and buy anything they can get their hands on, the day after the store shelves got restocked.

1000 people go looking, the shelves are "still" empty, they confirm the internet rumor of ammo shortages, causes 2,000 people to go looking the next day.
- See where this is going, do a google search for ammo shortages, see what pops up ( google gives you 10 common searches on the key words ammo shortage alone ).

It is a perpetual motion shortage caused by people stock piling, as they think this is the end.

Ammo companies can clear out the warehouse, and sell everything they can make every month, life is good for them.
- Why crank up production to have the supply out strip demand once this nonsense stops, and be sitting on a pile of stock that they cannot pay bills with ?

If people purchased ammo at the same rate they did 6 years ago, the price would have an increase, but not a 100% increase. Doing it to ourselves, and the ammo manufactures are chuckling all the way to the bank about it.

Yesterday, I bought 2,000 rounds of Blazer Brass for $450 shipped to me from Palmetto State Armory. Nowadays, that's a pretty good price. Especially considering the recent price spike.

I am going to have to agree with you on this one. This is probably a large portion of ammo price increase.

Last week I bought three 100 round value packs of .223 from Wal-Mart for $35 each. Last time I bought the same ammo, it was $40 per box. I was happy to see a price actually drop for once. I'm sure it will all be hoarded (did people really wait until it was to late again?) and drive the price up. Obama definetely wants an AWB. Let's hope he is to busy driving the economy into the ground to deal with getting the AWB passed. He has failed at everything else so I doubt he will succeed there either.
