Sorry to hear that!

Talk to the breeder. 2 dogs from the litter I got my dog from died when they were just over a year old. I forget exactly what happened but it was something with their brain. From what I was told they didn't show any signs of being sick.

Hmm - maybe the vaccine came from that compounding joint in MA?

Sorry to hear about your loss. The probabilities are high that the vet uses a killed bacteria booster which means the bacteria is dead. This makes them use more of it as the bacteria does not replicate itself like a live bacteria. It's the common killer of dogs after receiving their shots and it's called Anaphlactic shock if you'd like to research it. Usually if a dog has any kind of reaction to the booster shot and survives, he is almost always a sickly animal. I know it can be hard to know that your doing the right thing and getting the pup their shots most likely killed it. But you have to know that you and the vet can't know these things ahead of time. You just have to what is the right thing and take care of them as best that you can. Veterinarian science would be eons ahead if only the animals could talk to us. But they can't so we muddle ahead as best we can. Again, sorry for the loss. Might consider taking your little one to the animal shelter and let him pick out his next buddy. There's a lot of dogs that would love to have a little one for a best friend in these shelters.

So sorry to hear about all this KRC, but don't give up. After putting down my first dog (had her from 3rd grade thru junior year of college) I didn't think I could go through that again.

Now I've got a 6 year old Shepherd/Rottie mix that's my best friend. It'll hurt like hell when she goes, but she was a rescue and I know I've given her a good life.

My parents adopted a stay cat, nursed him back to health and he had a blood clot lodge in his spine late one night and they had to take him into an emergency vet and had to put him down. My dad swore off pets that night... a few years ago the neighbor's cat adopted them, and when the neighbors moved, they gave the cat to my parents. He's 16 now and still kicking.

You do what you can for them and you can take solace in the fact you gave them a good home and a good chance, which is more than some people get.

Ive got to share this story, just goes to show you there are still some great people out there..

I was looking on craigslist and a guy in abilene had a ad up for 9 week old AKC German Rotts. So i called him to see how much he wanted, We talked for a little bit and said hes asking 450.00 per pup. I told him that i wasnt able to pay that and told him the story of what happened to the last pup. We talked for a little more and he said wh dont you bring your son up here and let him see the pup and maybe we can work something out.. So we decided to drive the 90 miles up there. We knocked on the guys door and he showed us the pups, my son went crazy with one female.. The guy kept watching Cole around the puppy. He said well we need to talk about a price.. I told him what i could pay today which was 300.00. He walked over to the female puppy picked her up and said thats my christmas present to your son.. I couldnt believe it i tried to offer him money and he wouldnt take a penny.

So here is my sons new puppy

true story

when I was a kid my brothers best friends came over. His parent came to pick him up and when they where leaving they ran over our dog. everyone was sick, sad and upset.

2 days latter my mom and dad took them to the mall . this was back when the malls had pet stores. my brother wanted a beagle, the store had one. my dad asked how much and the lady said 350. My brothers friends (6 years old) pulled out a $5.00 bill and said he wanted to pay for it.

my dad said he really wanted to do the deal and just not tell the kids the real cost but money was just to tight.

we hear so much junk on the news. i think if everyone turned off cnn, fox, rush and bill mahr, the world would be such a better place.

Had a similar story from when I was in college and working at the local municipal airport. Wayne Newton purchased a Plantation house near the airport. During negotiations he found out that the owner's grandson had lost his puppy recently. Once the deal was done, Wayne flew in to see his new property, along with him was his girlfriend carrying a American Eskimo Spitz, they left with their lawyer, returning later still carrying the puppy. He approached me explaining they had brought the dog for the young child, but no one was home to accept it. He asked if I could keep the puppy until some one picked it up. When I finally got hold of the family they showed up with the little boy and he immediately fell in love with the puppy.
