I am the exact opposite, I am used to the 1911 grip angle and the xd has the same angle as the 1911. The glock feels wrong to me and when I bring the gun up it is off target where as my xd comes up on target naturally. It seems odd to me that someone who is used to a 1911 would like the grip of the glock over the xd.

It's more of the grip texture, and funky little grip safety of the XD that I don't care for. I have large hands so the small plastic frame doesn't let me get a nice positive grip like I'm used to like I get on my 1911 and Glock. I've also been bouncing back and forth between my G17 and 1911 all summer so I'm used to it.

I have a Ruger LCP that I rarely carry because the damn thing is so small.

Here's a pic of my full size 1911 and LCP in the palm of my hand just for size comparison.

Yes, I have a XD-S. I'm carrying it right now, actually. Bought it to replace my KelTec PF9. The trigger and sights are far superior to the PF9. I have about 300 rounds of FMJ and HP (including 230 gr +P) through mine without a single problem. I have two of the short 5-round magazines and one 7-round magazine and all have fed flawlessly. As good as the stock sights were, I did replace them with TruGlo-TFO fiberoptic/tritium sights because I love those and got a set for a steal of a price installed.

This is my third Springfield XD pistol - I also have a XD .45 and a XD-M 9mm. All have been superb.

I highly recommend the XD-S, if you can find one.

My eyes were opened after my third failure this year and mine is now retired from EDC. My friend/Boss has a Glock 34 that's seen 12,000+ rounds through it this summer and he wore out a Titanium striker on it he's fired it so much this year and the only other problem he had was failure to cycle when he tried out a new barrel with a compensator on it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a very big fan of the 1911 but you won't see one in my holster during a competition or carrying one on a daily basis anymore.
My 500 dollar rock island has fired 4,000 with no issue's 1,000 or so have been HP's and many of those rounds were fired in 3 gun comp. i trust it to work in the comp and i trust it to go bang when my life is on the line thats why it sits on my right hip in a don hume holster. i watched a G21 fail as my 1911 kept shooting lead reloads. i watched a G23 fail at a limb wrist test as my 1911 kept shooting. i even watched a G23 FALL APART as my buddy pulled it out of his case i laughed and said thats what happens when you play with plastic toys

Also the names you mentioned for high priced 1911's they all have one thing in common THEY ARE TOO TIGHT kimbers fail all the time ive never heard anyone say anything good about them. Also when you get away from a 5" 1911 you start to have issue's as well my full size 5" has never failed me.

worst comes to worst if my 1911 does happen to fail me ill throw it and it will make a very good brick.

But like everything in life the choice is up to you on what to carry. At some point all guns fail they are a tool and they are going to fail. Glock/ 1911/ M&P etc etc at some point they will fail.

I was debating between the XDS and the XDM while a gun show this weekend. I ended up going with the XDM that came with 3 19 round magazines. I'll mostly use it at the range but figure having 57 rounds available should be enough " stopping power " if needed.

Kimbers sure are PRETTY weapons.

One good thing said.

I've never have even held one in my hot widdo hands.

Anything mechanical is eventually gonna fail.

Especially without proper maintenance.

Sometimes the string breaks on a yo-yo.

yes they are pretty. and pretty expensive. and fail pretty much all the time.

thats just my take on them. made to tight and dont allow the 1911 to function as it should.

took a look at an XDS at the store last week. a bit small but then it is a sub compact and it should be small. i have to wonder what the recoil is actually like. watched the videos and it seems to have some recoil and muzzle rise. then i got to looking around the store and came out with more, what about that gun than i went in with. looked at a nice sig and the m&p.

in talking to the guy at the store he says he carries a glock 19. and then after some more discussion he like myself and alot of others i know carry the glock with no round in the chamber when carried concealed. i like the ruger LC9 for concealed cause the trigger pull is long and it has a easy safety on it so it minimizes accidental firing. problem is at 7 yards without some real aiming the safest place to be is the target (maybe not that bad but close)

so anyone with a xds-----what is the recoil like. whats the accuracy like

Some manufactures have made the same mistake with the AK, you would be surprised how unreliable an AK becomes when you take all the slop out of it.

So, when you are being attacked, do you just hit them with it, or wave it around?
