valve covers tend to leak. Timing belts snap and send the valves to hell...

Just be sure the timing belt is new along with the gears. Valve cover gasket is easy. If it did leak into the plug valley try sopping up as much oil as ya can.

Nice setup. Always thought teh VW vans were pretty cool. One of my fathers friends in San Diego had one with with a swapped in Porsche 930 turbo 3.3 liter swapped in. You need to do a running travelogue, of your trips.

I dig it! If/when you make it out to Boulder County and want directions to some nice little places to check out in the front range, hit me up. Your V-Dub will certainly fit in better out here than anything in my fleet. Enjoy the trip(s). You've earned it.

Thanks for the compliments.
Busy moving, but I am working on the pics.

Str8t six, for sure man. Yea, saw your thread about your TDI. Super jealous. If I was going to get a car, that'd be the one. Favorite body style and favorite engine. You got a great deal too. I shopped around for one of those for about 4 months, but gave up b/c everyone wants so much for them.

incorrect. All zetec's are non interference. Some books say they are interference some say they are non. They are most definitely non interference though. They break at 120k miles.

Hopefully the donor car is indeed a focus and not an escort. The escorts had the g5m manual trans which was made by mazda. They had nice gearing for fuel mileage and acceleration but could not stand up to abuse. I blew the spiders right through the case on my first trans in my escort. The focus had the mtx75 trans which was built by ford and bullet proof.
