Marines going back to the 1911
Looks like the Marines or at least some of them are going back to the 1911. Can't blame them a bit. The Beretta, or at least the 9mm just doesn't have the guts of the 45. That is why the military went from 38 to 45 in the first place. The 9mm and 38 aren't much different.

My buddy has an incredible 1911 from his grandpa that was used in WWII I believe....thing is so sick

Well, just like the 38 originally, when you have to put 5 or more rounds into someone to knock them down, a high capacity magazine does not mean much.

Edit - I should also mention that I have tried many handguns in the past, at least as far as how they fit in my hands. I have yet to ever find one as comfortable as the 1911, anywhere. And it doesn't seem to matter much on the size of the hand holding it, everyone states the same. Very comfortable.

American units fighting Moro guerrillas during the Philippine-American War using the then-standard Colt M1892 revolver, in .38 Long Colt, found it to be unsuitable for the rigors of jungle warfare, particularly in terms of stopping power, as the Moros had very high battle morale and frequently used drugs to inhibit the sensation of pain.[7] The U.S. Army briefly reverted to using the M1873 single-action revolver in .45 Colt caliber, which had been standard during the late 19th century; the heavier bullet was found to be more effective against charging tribesmen.[8] The problems prompted the then-Chief of Ordnance, General William Crozier, to authorize further testing for a new service pistol.[8]

Good Decision!
Good for the USMC!
my daily carry is the PB9511, the short barrel milspec champion from SA. It has the accuracy and reliability workups from SA, along with a few other odds and ends... when i save up enough, it's getting a green laser.
