New ride...

After 50K of faithful service to me, and 284K on the odometer, I sold my Cavalier yesterday. First person who looked at it, bought it after a 2 min test drive. Picked up this gem this evening.

1998 Crown Vic. 231K miles. Car is in amazing shape. Has been owned by the same family for the past 225k miles. With the money I sold the Cavi for, I paid $300 out of pocket for this car... and it needs nothing.

You'll be a hit with the ladies -- provided they're 70-years of age or older......

Hey -- take her to Imo's and you can coattail on her for a senior citizens discount! I just can't give you any advice on what to do if she asks you to ride the elevator up to her apartment after the date though -- you're on your own at that point, buddy......

So far, I've gotten comments from several family members (who weren't near eachother at the time) about how my grandpa would have loved this car.

Think it's your imagination? Only thing wrong with the front end is a little scuff on the front bumper and the chrome on the grill is bubbled in one spot, but not peeling. Neither of which you can see in my crappy pic? The rest of the car is in excellent shape.

My buddy said we should park on the side of the highway and mess with people... I said only if we bring a hair dryer to point at them.

Just don't park that thing in the fast lane like the rest of the old geezers do.

Welcome to the club. They are great cars with pretty damn good mpgs. Every fill up is any where from 22-25 mpgs. Here is my 98 mercury with 141k.

If this gets that, I will be very happy. My buddy had a CVPI, and he said he averaged mid 20s, and I know he drove like a retard sometimes. Does your Merc have a center console? I need some storage space in this thing and don't know what to get.

Not yet, but I have discovered that most people are very cautious about passing you, and that if you cut somebody off, they will back off in a hurry.

No center console, wish i had one also.

Be sure to keep the tranny fluid changed pretty often, these cars are notorious for torque converter shutter, im fighting it right now..

Have you tried Amsoil ? Merc V gave me problems in the 98, but that pricey Amsoil stuff worked fine.
