Can I Get Ripped Off Using Pay Pal?

So I'm selling an item on Craigslist. This person asked for my phone number to call about the item. Then they send this email. Should I be suspicious? Sounds too good to be true. I know not to accept money orders or personal checks or things like that but can anyone screw me over using Pay Pal? Once the money is in your account, it's a done deal correct? The more I read this, the more suspicious I get.

"Thanks for the mail and sincerely i am so sorry for being so late to
your response, have been out of connections and will like to purchase
it out rightly,i want to be the best offer by adding $100 to your
money then keep other offers off and i will be paying you via my
PayPal account,I will also like you to send me your PayPal
details(PayPal e-mail address) so i can effect payment to you right
away and make sure you get back to me so that we can arrange for pick
up as i will like the item to be picked,so no shipping included as i
have arrange for how is going to be pick up after the payment as been
proceed. Hope to know if its still in a good condition.cos i wont be
able to inspect it as am busy,so i will like you to take some pictures
of it and send them to me for me to see the condition.Let me have your
phone number Get back to me in time."

Anyone here have an opinion?

Well, it's obviously a scam. The part I never understood was how the scammer gets money...it's really dumb how they do. They send a fake paypal email saying you got a pile of money and all you need to do is pay them to release it. Lol. Sounds like a helluva deal.

Iduno. The guys asking for contact info and pictures. He's busy, so he wants to secure the item by throwing in an extra hundy.

Iduno, sounds good, but you never know. Paypals been good with me , so far. Where's the red flags coming from ?

I would think he's trying to get your email so that he can hack your account. Phone numbers also help hackers on accounts that have mobile apps. Like Bluejay said - run! You can also forward the email he sent you to paypal (I think it's something like spam@paypal.com) and they'll report the spam to whoever the Internet authorities are lol.

Also, if your questioning it at all, there's usually a good reason for it. GrnXnham,- I haven't, but family members and a one neighbor that I know of just uses CraigsList and that's always cash on the spot or your not leaving with it. The best way to do business IMO. You might be better off sticking to that. Even if takes a little longer. That eliminates the hassle and worry. I agree with others. If you want to take a chance and don't mind the extra work doing so, then.... Otherwise, run lol.

That is a scam. Seen them before. Not sure how they work though.

Google paypal scams through craigslist. Or craigslist/paypal scams, Youll see

Those scammers are so retarded. If these guys were smart they would send you an email that reads basically....

"I am interested in your _________. Is there a phone number I can get a hold of you at about 7 tonight when I get off of work"

As soon as you would reply to that ad boom there is your email address. Boom there is your home phone number assuming at 7 in the evening most people are off work and at home.
