Movin to NYC

Im moving from Southern California to New York city in a 1 week. Im gonna be living with my aunt in Manhattan (Upper West Side). Anyone here live in the city or Long Island? Im going there not knowing anyone, so if anyone here lives there it would be cool to meet up.

The city that never sleeps. You will be fine it's all that you make of it. Not every new yorker is a total asshat, majority yes but not all! Good luck on your quest and buy a metro card cause cabs get expensive if your ridin alone and no one wants to split and then there is gypsy cabs and car service.

I was told to buy an unlimited Metro card.

i dont understand why you are selling the truck? are you going to take cabs everywhere you go?

Well yes, and buses and subway. But there are many other reasons. I plan on RE enlisting in the Navy in 6 months, so I would be selling it then anyway. Shipping my truck would be about a grand, then I have storage, insurance, gas. It wouldnt make sense for me to take it with me.

If it's like most neighborhoods in Manhattan, what it costs to park will buy a lot of alternative transportation. A lot of residents simply rent a car if they need one - like to go out of town.
