High Power Wireless Router
High Power Wireless Router
Hey guys, i was wondering if there is anyone here that is good with computer networks. Down here at the marina we are supposed to have complimentary wifi out on the docks and by the BBQ pits. The wifi has not worked right since i started working here, it only works in the office. Does anyone know of a good high power router? I figure i need a 1/8 mile radius at least. There is a resturaunt in the center of the marina and that is were i would like to put the router. Also we have 300+ boats in the summer, i dont expect to be able to handle all 300 at once but it can't start dropping people once ten people log in. It will also have to be password protected. I have seen wireless repeaters but i dont have much places to put them if they have a short range.
I just dont know enough about the wireless tech, If it ran on gas and floated that would be a whole different story though
Any help is appreciated.

What speed hsi do you guys have? If you plan on having more than 20 people trying to connect to the same network you need to make sure you have the speed/bandwidth for it. If your router is more than a few years old you might wanna look for a new one. I personally like netgear n routers.
I'm not sure what the internet is but i kno that the owner is not going to change it so if it will only be good for 20 people then so be it, as long as the signal is there. There was a enough bandwidth a few years ago so im sure we are fine there, i just cant broadcast it
2 things:
1. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833124190
Load DD-WRT firmware on it and crank up the power to 100mw.
2. Put a high gain external antenna on the roof of the restaurant.

The Linksys uses a RP-TNC connector, so get the correct cable.
