Any RC Truck folks here???

I have a question for you!

I acquired a Traxxas Revo 3.3 from a family member. The thing is brand new, however, she has no idea what happened to the radio for it.

After looking online, it looks like the controller that came woth it was supposed to use an IPhone... I dont want to get an IPhone or pad thingy. Is it possible to just buy a different radio for it? If so, could you recommend one?

Thanks in advance!

You should be able to go to any RC hobby shop or online RC site and order a new "ESC" module and controller. I think ESC is what its called. Mine went kaput on my traxxas T-MAXX and i got a 2.4ghz module and controller.

check this out: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0008p?&M=TRAJ

I checked out your link. Only problem I see is that the radio setup that came with the truck is supposed to be a 3-channel setup. The ones listed on Tower Hobbies are 2 or 4 channel.

I would love to go to a hobby shop, but the nearest one to me is in Dallas which is over a 2 hour drive... No shops here in Wichita Falls that sell RC Car/Truck stuff....

You would be replacing the ESC also. The ESC is the module on the truck that receives the signal from the radio and sends those signals to the servos that control the throttle, brake & steering. Since you will be replacing the ESC it will be compatible with the new radio.

You will need a tx rx (transmitter/receiver) combo. Been around nitros for a while. These are highly recommended for the revo and tmaxx on the traxxas forums with great reviews for the price. These have built in safe mode for run aways and lots of other functions/adjustable brakes, throttle sensitivity etc...

This was my last project

From this:

TO THIS

New 3.3 engine, violator tank, forward only conversion, dual rate springs, aluminum bulk heads, aluminum steering system and some other things. Oh, I put a hump pack later on, eliminating the AA batteries onboard.

Yep.
The guys on the traxxas forums have nothing but good things to say. Matter of fact, at one point you could not get these because they were all pre ordered and there was a long waiting list. They have recently been made available, to a point.... still not easy to find. So grab one now.
