why search?

I've been on this site for several months now and one thing I've noticed is there are a lot of comments advising people to use the search function. I hope we all know that its an option here, but it is a discussion forum, right? Aren't we all here do discuss things?? Ideas change, things get fixed and never posted about, members come and members go. I've used the search a lot and at home on the computer its much easier to look through page after page of threads, on my phone its a PITA! I'm sure some of us just use the internet on their smatphone and don't have a "computer". I'm not sure why I felt like posting this but sometimes people are rude about it weather they mean to be or not.

Discuss...

Yes, it's a discussion forum, but quite often there are multiple threads going answering the very same question. It gets old responding when just a quick search would have given the same info. In my opinion, it is only polite to search first, then after doing some reading, assuming there are some search results, the questioner can ask a more informed question if he still has questions. Too often, someone asks a question that had they spent just a few minutes with the search button, they would never have asked it in the first place. For example, "What is the best tuner for my truck and where do I get it?" or "What CAI should I get?" and many more.

Another thought. Too often, the person saying to "use the search" does so in a very rude manner. In my opinion, they should be informed of the button and how to use it as they may be a newer member and not familiar with what the button can do for them.

Guilty.

However - I (almost) always do the research and provide relevant links and info anyway, along with said bluntness.

I'm only human, I can't type, I'm a fossil, my walker needs a tuneup and I'm constantly constipated. Do ya blame me?

I have no problem being rude and blunt for questions that are asked 3 or 4 times daily. the 30 minutes you wait for your answer you could have found it in maybe 5 minutes max searching.

My sticky in the suspension section that spells out everything you can and can't do rarely gets used, i even have a few linked threads in it to make it stupid simple for someone to find there question and the same questions are still asked daily.

LOL!!

I'm guilty too. However, it does get frustrating for those who try to help when the OP apparently refuses to heed the advise he/she is given.

It's sure irritating when someone asks a question, gets the answer they're after, and acts almost as if to say, "Well, I'm gonna do whatever I want". Seems like this is more common when the 'right' thing to do involves more work...

You mean we'er not supposed to say "Use the damn search function ya newb!!!".

It does get old and annoying after a while, but even if you read down the forum page you can normally find 3-4 current threads on what you are looking for provided you'er in the correct forum.

LMAO!!!

I think the OP was referring to the section at the top of the forum in the middle of the bold, blacked out options bar entitled 'Search'.

See? I helped somebody today!

j/k, jbrew.

Personally, I would rather search and find my answer as opposed to starting a thread that may or may not get much traffic.

There's no winning. If you search and find a thread then post in it, you get ridiculed because it's 2 months old. If you start a thread you get reamed.

I just search, keep quiet and try to figure it out myself. I don't want any problems!
