Garmin eTrex Venture HC
Anyone have one? Do you like it?

 

I got one for Christmas so for free its good. Its a small, featured packed unit that has so many features that its only missing one thing, ACCURACY. I have had mine on while taking the dogs for a walk and it shows that I am in the middle of a good size river that I am about an 1/8th mile from. I use it for hunting, mark camp, treestand and the such so it works good for that but its not accurate as far as the map image is. If I had payed for it myself I would have returned it, but it was free so it will get me close enough.

Are you sure it doesn't just need an "update"? Don't know a lot about it but when I put new maps in my 1st Garmin (350) it went to H#*l in a hand cart. I was really ticked because it was really accurate before that. E-mailed Garmin on their site and gave 'em a piece of my mind and immediately got a response back. Have you updated? You just do it online if you have registered the unit. Problem fixed.

 

Nope on any updates. For how I use it its fine. I just mark spots for hunting and thats it. I have a Garmin Nuvi 500 for the Prowler and atv and the truck has Garmin in the Kenwood.

Garmin does have good stuff normally. The stuff they have in airplanes I work on just rocks.
