Purchasing a new compressor, which one would you go with??

Yea, which one would you choose and why?

Choices, there's three -

1. -The 30 series Ingersoll Rand -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ingersoll-Ra...item415f71f658

2. -The Quincy Reciprocater, -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Quincy-Compr...item4cfbde9aee

3. -The FS Curtis Animal -

http://www.aircompressorsdirect.com/...VT6/i4460.html

I really wanted a Rotary, -just can't see spending that much on one. Although, they're allot cheaper to run. Anyway, I have one of the 3 in mind, -it's not that easy to decide, so I had to ask.

Thanks,

jbrew

I would go with #2 or #1 in that order. Never heard of the 3rd one.

Yea, I have a 20 gallon IR and it's been flawless. The only thing preventing is that I've read, - IR is building them with cheaper parts nowadays and their warranty supports that.

That's the main thing you've got to be careful about anymore, where is it made??? Can't go by the name. What used to be outstanding names are now owned by aboriginies and made in Zimbobwaie or who knows where. Gotta watch for the screamers, the ones that run so fast you can't stand being within 50 ft. of 'em. You've got your work cut out J, this isn't your father's compressor, (or was that Oldsmobile....,nah, it was compressor).
You even have a hard time getting parts for some of the name brands, (and you'll probably need 'em).

Quincy!
American made with top quality Baldor motor and Quincy pump.
There is cheaper out there, but there was no question in my mind which to get. I got a 80 Gal Dual stage Quincy.
I ordered mine with Pneumatic/automatic tank drain and a aftercooler for moisture removal

Yea, they're very quiet. Reminds me of grandmas old Singer sewing machine.

I seen a new IR 2 stage going for $600 in California. Not sure if the link is still up (?) - It is , I had it saved last week -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/320832322442...84.m1438.l2649

It sold for $660, but shipping was $400. Good deal if it was close enough to pick up.

My 20 gallon single IR is a great machine for it's size. I purchased that in 02, -It's a Garage Mate. Runs/looks like new. I need to run a blaster, DA, HVLP gun, grinder, etc... So I really need to upgrade to a 2 stage single phase and get those CFM's at 175 psi. Desperately

I don't mind paying for a good machine and the IR is that, BUT, the Quincy is definitely built better today,- from what I'm seeing anyway.

Thanks for the info.

I'd go with the quincy......

I've had speed aire, IR, Coleman and a few others....our shop's quincy has been in operation for 10+ years without any issues....
